Looking at the 'view or change seat' page on the VAA web site for my trip to LAX this week, it is showing a couple of seats free in PE. Does that mean that;

1) All seats except the 2 showing, are sold INCLUDING the unallocated bulkhead row seats?
2) When it show's ALL seats allocated (i.e. none that I could select or change my current choice to/from) does it mean that in fact that PE is then in reality oversold?

Thanks.

Only 60% of the seats in each cabin are available for pre-selection. So the all that the VS system is telling you when a seat map is unavailable is that the 60% available have been pre-selected. Bulk heads/Exit Rows are always only available for allocating at the airport.

Expert Flyer or similar is your best bet for knowing how full your flights is.

Hi, vizbiz:
Neil's right. By the way, the Expert Flyer info is 15/2/0 available (Upper,PE,Econ) so you've got a pretty full flight.

To be 100% certain I suggest you contact VS reservations who will tell you whether any PE seats are currently blocked (EF shows none are, but it's worth a call to satisfy your curiosity).

If Expert Flyer is showing '2' in PE does that mean that 36 of the 38 available seats have really been sold - irrespective of allocation/selection of existing passengers to seats, or does it take into account the 7 bulkhead/exit row seats; ie there are really only 29 actually sold?

'"Sold' or otherwise allocated

The '2' tells you that there are just 2 seats left in that bucket. If the other buckets show 0 then it's all sold, if it shows 7 then there are 7 or more seats left. Expertflyer only shows up to 7 for VS.
