We booked with VH to go to Miami on 2nd Sept 08 and on our E-Ticket receipt dated 29th Jan 09 it states that baggage allowance 32KG. because VS website states 23KG so i rang VH to confirm, and a male call centre agent in India well sounded like he was in the Indian subcontinent said, that we were only entitled to 23KG he was not interested in taking our booking ref or even looking further into our enquiry. has anyone else had this problem with VH? and we have holidayed with them several times over the years the last being Feb 08 when it was definitely 32KG per bag. Now I understand in the economic climate all companies are cutting costs and the 23KG baggage allowance is not really a problem (well outbound) but someone else who takes there E-Ticket as gospel could be in for a bit of a shock at check-in sorry for going on and on my question is VH in breech of contract.

It depends what class you are travelling. Without Gold status, Economy is 2x 23kg each, Premium Economy is 2 x 32kg, and Upper is 3 x 32kg.

The VS baggage allowance info found here is the most up-to-date and accurate.

Always go off the info provided by the airline itself when it comes to baggage allowances.

VH website FAQs say 2 * 23kg for econ and 2 * 32kg for PE and 3 * 32kg for UC (For trans atlantic - different for other destinations)

Its on this page - scroll down a little and it mentions the limits are from 2006

Link to Virgin Holidays website.

So it depends what class your flying but it sounds like you have a problem with the VH call centre too and you should take it up with them.

The limits on the VH site are the same as listed on the VS site as per the link posted above.

Your 'future flights' says your flying Econ so its 2 * 23KG

But a call to VH to double check wouldn't hurt and get them to actually to check your booking.

Interestingly the VH handbaggage limits quote:Upper Class passengers are allowed ONE piece of hand luggage....not weighing more than 9kg. differ from the VS UC limits: quote:Upper Class passengers may take two pieces of hand baggage onboard. ... 16kg (35lbs) in combined weight...

VH still hasn't got itself sorted on this.

My e-ticket for next week, issued by VH, says our baggage allowance is 32kg for each of us (PE).

VS, of course, says it is 'two pieces of luggage per passenger, each weighing up to 32kg (70lbs)'.

Bizarrely, in the travel information pack VH included with the e-ticket the PE baggage allowance is stated as the correct (VS) amount, as it also is in the VH brochure.

Out of curiosity I rang VH customer services and they agreed that the e-ticket information is wrong but 'that is what they put on the ticket' . I then asked what was the point of producing an e-ticket with wrong information on it and got 'that would be your allowance if you were going somewhere else' initially and then 'it is because it is the Caribbean'. Hmmm, words began to fail me about then!!!

A tad incompetent and not difficult to put right methinks.
