Being slightly bored I decided to see what was going on with LAX.

It seems that LAX-TWO Corp are looking to expand the lounge level to the north end of the terminal so help with A380 dual level boarding and provide more space.

Also because of the merger it looks like NW will be heading to T-5, leaving behind a NW club.

So with 2 flights a day (most of the time) will be see a Clubhouse ?

Are you asking if Virgin will move from their current arrangement with Air New Zealand and set up their own lounge ?

I did always think it strange that a location that often has a 747 and an Airbus every day has shared facilities. Albeit, pretty good shared facilties.

I think the current facilities, although shared, work well and now find it a joy to fly from LAX (I find the AZ lounge and staff much superior to other clubhouse I have used (eg jo-burg and Dulles)).

I doubt, given the current economic situation, that VS will be spending out on a new CH, even though I would love to see one at LAX.

I found the service in Jo'Burg and particarly Dulles by the waiting staff to be better than the Heathrow Clubhouse !

I do agree that the concierge at LAX is top class, and puts many of the Virgin equivalents in the shade.

I have found the waiting staff in my local hospital better than that at the LHR Clubhouse ! Waiting being the appropriate word at LHR some times .... [:w]

I too find the concierge at LAX top - one of the reasons I love flying from their is the service he gives i.e walking me from the lounge right to my suite without having to stop for anyone. Top [y]

Just thinking out loud mostly, having to use shared lounges at LAX I can understand due to the lack of space.

Now one thing that would work is if AS moves out of T3 and VS moves over, then you would have all the Virgin brands under one roof and more than enough pax for a CH.

The lounge at LAX is OK as long as it doesn't get too full. I've had trouble finding a seat sometimes. Having said that the shower facilities are very nice, and the food is good. Not too heavy before a long flight. Overall a very calming place.
But a Virgin Clubhouse would be excellent. Maybe they can improve the check in while they're at it - it can be a bit patchy although the staff are helpful.
