Hello!

I finally have enough miles to get two reward upper class tickets to the Caribbean next year (ideally March or April) to pretty much any destination, however looking at the availability I am a bit worried as although VS have only opened up to mid March I can't see any reward availability to any Caribbean destination (or even Miami) from February onwards....

Do VS tend to release Reward availabilty later than other classes?

Any tips greatly appreciated!

Reward seats aren't always released straight away, so this could be a reason why non are currently showing. Of course the other reason could be the fact that only a couple were released and they have been snapped up straight away, although for this to have happened on all flights/destinations in a little unlikely.

All you can do is to keep checking the VS website daily, but there is no guarantee that any will come available or be released at all. As a tip, check with only 1 seat rather than 2, and also keep the dates as flexible as possible in the search engine as this can have an effect if any other date options show or not.

One thing to maybe think of is to give UC reservations a call, they will be able to look through all the dates and tell you if/when any are available.

Hi Jake

Not sure of the precise dates that you might be looking at, but as Easter falls on 4th April next year, I suspect that Reward availability will be limited on any route likely to be associated with children travelling on holiday.

Coupled with there being only 14 UC seats on the Gatwick Fleet (I do know they often put a Heathrow plane on for Barbados from time to time) means that your chances are slim.

As has already been said, keep checking, as if Revenue do decide to release seats they will go in a flash

It was my understanding that seats could only be booked 330 days out?

Yes, correct, so 330 days = 35 less the current date = 22 Feb 2010 or the like. Hence rewards won't be shown yet. However, adding in the Easter break, which is one of the busiest times to the Caribbean, you'll be lucky to get two G's in UC at that time as I should think that VS will limit the availability at peak times. Not unreasonably.

Yes I know I might not get them over the easter period - but i will be flexible.

So, just to make sure I understand, reward seats will not show until 330 days prior even if the flight is already loaded and on sale?

You can book flights up to and including 15th March today. I always work on the 11 month rule, it seems to pretty much work to that. I have just had a quick look at the NYC route as there is quite a few rewards on that and reward seats are available to book up to and including 10th March, so pretty much the same as revenue flights.
