So I am about to pull the trigger on the Gold benefit of a guarenteed full fare economy. Just wondered if anyone else has done the same?

I am starting to feel guilty about the poor person I am bumping off the flight!

I am sure the compensation of overnight hotel, meal allowance and a Select voucher will ensure there is a willing volunteer - if this is found to be necessary.

Given the fact that all airlines routinely oversell flights, I don't think your hugely expensive Y seat is anything to make you feel guilty about.

A full fare Y seat to New York is over 1000, compared to c300 for a discounted seat.

I did this once, about 7 years ago for a flight to India. In all honesty I don't think anyone suffered as I used miles at the airport to upgrade to Upper.

(Wonder what would happen if 300 or so Gold Card members wanted to pay full to somewhere all at one?)

Yep. BUT then you have 250 bumped folks. Then there is the press.

If RSM>=(1.1*ASM) then airline muy concento

If RSM>=(2.0*ASM) then airline muy*10 concento, benefits get modified.

Should add the flight is to Johannesburg during the Lions tour (I'm actually travelling out to the Confeds Cup for work) and the flight is completely full in all classes.

I do feel slightly guilty about the person who may be left behind.

There are bound to be some no-shows or some people who would quite like a 50K mile ticket and a guarantee to get on the next days plane.
