Hi there - long-time lurker, first-time poster...

I was wondering if I could seek some advice. I have flown UC several times in the past and generally enjoy it (especially a flight HKG-SYD last year), even though I prefer BA First. I am planning a trip to LAX and was considering using BA First (from continental Europe to lower the fare) but the recent catering debacle is turning me off that idea (latest reports suggest it could be weeks before proper service is resumed).

I am thus considering flying UC instead. However, pricing up a flight (leaving 6, back 15 September) comes in at around £5k. With that in mind, I can use Milesplusmoney for around £2.2k plus 15k miles. While I am aware that the M+M fares do not receive points or miles, this seems a good deal. Or is there another way to save money?

Any thoughts gratefully appreciated.

Welcome to the site! [y]:D

£5k seems a little steep - but I guess you're within the 42 day AP requirement for a Z fare, so it'll only be J and D's left.

There is a similar way to BA's ex-Europe fares available, in order to save money with VS (but this is still dependent on Z availability). The details of this are posted within The Clubhouse. Full site members have been discussing it for a while ;)

Hard to find cheapies in F now out of europe(unless you know different;)),still a few good J deals though.
