Hi,

My g/f and I are flying to LAX on 2nd September on VS007. Our tickets arrived yesterday and it says on the itinery that the latest check in is 9am with the flight leaving at 12pm.

Might sound stupid but I thought check in for flights opened 3hrs before the flight which would be 9am but this seems to give the impression the latest you can check in is 9am, so we would need to check in at 7am as in 5hrs before the flight????

Can anyone clarify this for me please as prior to this we we going to get there for 9am but are confused now.

Ta!

VS advise you check in three hours before the flight in order to allow for security etc, but in practice if you're there at 10am you'll be fine. Indeed, check-in for VS007 doesn't close until 11am, but I wouldn't recommend planning on arriving then. If you arrive at 9am, you'll have plenty of time.

You can check-in any time before your flight from when check-in opens (which I think is around 6am [?]) until 1 hour before your flight is due to leave. After this point you will not be able to fly.

LHR VS check-in does get very busy in the mornings (especially economy) so I'd get there early. If possible use either OLCI the day before or the self-service machines at LHR then go to the DIY bag drop desk. Although I beleive the DIY desks are getting pretty busy now as well.

Andy,
as James said you can check in as soon as it opens (around 6am)
VS are quite generous with late check in times (60 mins) as other airlines often require 90 mins..however to be stress free i'd aim to be at least an hr earlier than that!

LHR doesnt offer a twilight check in which is useful at LGW.
However LHR has more desks so I guess this cancels out.

I've checked in at 6am before gone to work and then come back for my evening NY flight! but this obviously depends on flight times etc

for the VS7 though I'd check in early and just chill out at LHR as there are loads of shops etc to look at

Are you flying Economy/PE or upper?

Will def do a TR when we get back. We are doing the VH "King of the Road" tour so going LA, Palm Springs, Lake Havasu, Grand Canyon, Vegas, Yoesemite and San Fran in 16 days.

Been saving for 18 months so can't wait. Bit disapointed with Virgin though. They first messed up the hotel in Vegas but we got this sorted as they wanted to charge us £250 more 2 months after we booked the holiday! The holiday is also advertised with maps and routes provided which was a big reason we got this holiday.

The tickets turned up the other day and NO MAPS and the directions are poor to say the least. Just a few pages of really basic directions which don't go hotel to hotel but simply say how to get from one city to next, ie, from la to palm springs. Not very usefull for a driving holiday as where are the hotels!

Luckily, my friend in the USA posted me a copy of Streets and Trips (USA version of Autoroute) and we have used this. The VH directions certainly are different and at a couple of points give you a direction which doesn't make any sense! Will have to see how we get on. Not too impressed so far with them though.

Apart from that, can't wait!!!

Oh yeah, does anyone here do the Online Check In? Is it any good, how does it work?

Thanks again!
