Yes for some people this could be a very big deal,VS dropped the ball on this one,though I have to say (im no expert here) wouldn't you notice if you ordered a veg meal and there were chunks of meat in it,before you eat it?

Ok, not meaning to TRY and sound really stupid, but here's something I must confess along the lines of this topic.
For YEARS, I've been eating French Onion Soup, as a starter, when out for dinner/with suppliers/etc. Although I'm not a vegeratian, I honestly didn't know that "French ONION soup" contained beef stock/broth! - What's that about?!?! [:0][:p]

My partner ordered a vegan meal for our outward leg to las Vegas in December and got served with cheese and milk products mixed into her tray of food , as she only wanted it for a change to a vegetarian meal she did not complain but i guess a vegan would not have been to happy about being served dairy products in with their meal.
I have a vegan friend in Washington DC who regularly (i.e. nearly every weekend) flies round the country. He has long ago taken to bringing his own food on board as regularly he gets dairy products included in his meal - either that, or it's so boring as to make our sausages and mash look exotic!!
Hmm...i can't get the link up but i'm guessing a Hindu meal was ordered - not a veggie one and, having a Hindu as a best friend has taught me that the Hindu religion is not a strict vegetarian diet. Some choose to eat poultry etc and that is seen as perfectly acceptable.

I think that although VA own the branding, this whole thread is just a little unfair.
The food supplier (be it Gate Gourmet or otherwise)will supply a meal ordered as veggie or otherwise and simply label it as such for the CC to dish out (no pun intended:)).
If the labelled meals contain things that are not within the 'beliefs' of the person ordering, it's not VA's fault unless their contract is ingredient specific (ie it states that a vegan meals nust contain dairy items!![:O]). I do however feel sorry for the CC who will bear the brunt of any complaint.
This is why this guys "class action" probably won't hold up, since VA are acting in good faith.
I note that his FC miles are " not enough to get a flight anywhere from Delhi" - you have to wonder if that was deliberate[}:)]

After a few dozen vegan airline meals on quite a few airlines, I do not think I have ever seen a 100% vegan meal. The usual culprit is butter, and after that, margarine (margarine contains milk, but not as much as milk).
I must say, though, that Virgin's vegan meal (big chunk of tofu marinated with something) from the US is quite good. I've even tried to make it at home, but alas, it did not turn out as well.

He says that he has contacted attorneys in the US "because that is where the largest number of Virgin-Atlantic flights fly into and out of and thus where the larghest number of passengers affected will be".
Of course it's nothing to do with the fact that the US is a notoriously easy country in which to file a lawsuit...
