In the situation of needing 5 points by March to hold on to Silver Card [:#]

Was thinking about the most cost effective way of doing it might be Premium Economy out Economy In trip to Boston or New York :D

Also need to find the cheapest way as well [?]

Has anyone else got a better idea ?

All suggestions welcomed [y]

Hmm. If you're going solely for the purposes of retaining your Silver card, the cheapest option (assuming flying with VS) would indeed be BOS/NYC.

In which case, for Economy out, PE back, it'll be £574 inc. taxes. Is the Silver card worth that much?

Although, it would be a good shopping trip to Boston, at least... [y]

(Note: For double that (£1,174 all-in), you could go Upper Class, with 10 TP's.... ;)[:?])

If you tried to check in with it at Downtown Disney like I did last week to beat the EC Line :D then no [^] See the trip report.

I have friends in Boston so that might be the cheapest option :D

I only have 3 TPs to get by March to go to Silver, but couldn't really see any benefit of being silver, for me anyway.

I'm flying PE in March, and my next trip should be a PE -> UC upgrade as i should have 40k miles by March time, so planning a trip around October (Boston, Toronto and NYC if anyone is interested!)

I was thinking of a few business class trips, LHR to EDI on BMI to get the three points, as if I read it correctly, I can get 1 TP per flight, but not sure the benefits are worth it

I agree, Locutus.

As has been said many time before, the only real benefit of the silver card, is for us Y travellers... use of the PE check in.
