It is the litle things that do make a lasting impression for me - specially when paying 000's of dollars for a seat to me an extra choice of entree at $4 is something. Presentation and attitude are free and it only takes time and care - rather than just slopping the food on a plate to arrange it so it doesnt look as though its been dispensed from a vat. And a smile and just going that extra mile (within reason of course)- that would also save crews jobs as once a airline gets a reputation of bad service it takes years to recover. if some airlines can manage it and others cant- it is really just up to character and how much someone actually likes a job.

As for the menu issue - given VA has supposedly such a great V-Port system - why not make the menus electronic - you can look them up on V-Port - they can be programmed in a special area- "Your flight" - on a monthly basis and voila - no printing costs and people still get to know whats on the menu. If virign are going to increase the seat pitch in Y thats fantastic. The only thing that worries me about this is that it will make the Y product even more inconsistant than it is already, there are already more than 1 type of Y seat, and the entertainment seens to be a bit of a lottery depending on what plane/ what airport etc.
You cant blame VS if they start to advertise that they have a better seat pitch, but there are going to be a lot of disappointed people out there if they dont make it clear its a bit of a gamble if you get it!

Anyway im going off topic a little there, but thanks for all your opinions guys, I love this site as you seem to have a well thought out adult debate, unlike someother sites i could mention...:)

You make some good points Gavin - and at risk of taking further off topic I agree. When BA announced NNCW they also said they'd be putting VOD across ALL the fleet, Virgin should do similarly. LIkewise standardise the seating and all other things.
