been here since 6.30pm.
Had an email at 4pm telling me there was a delay. Car was already booked for 4.30
Flight due to leave at 2.10am, which will end my 2 week long holiday of visiting boston (great city & i watched a red sox game), 8 hour drive to niagara falls (blackpool on steroids), 9 hr drive to washington through amish county towashington where i struggled with the 100c heat with all the walking!!!!, philly (didnt feel the love) & NYC (one world observatory is a must - best wow factor of the whole trip).

The chicken wings here in the clubhouse are some of the best ive ever had (on the tapas menu).Much nicer than the burger.
Cocktail menu seems to have vanished though & the spa closed hours ago!

Expecting to land around 1.15pm tomorrow, so going to miss my pre-booked train, unless they allow me to amend it.i factored in a possible delay of 4 hours as well.

Hope you eventually managed to get away and hope it hasn't dampened what sounds like a fabulous holiday :)
Did you manage to stay in Amish country ? I found it very peaceful and am hoping to re - visit in the autumn.

Don't forget to claim your EU261 compensation (assuming you arrived over 3 hours late, it was the "right" kind of delay and you weren't on an ex-EU dropping the last leg).

well, finally got home!
Didn't stay in Amish country.
Original plan was to stay in Lancaster, but this changed a while ago so we could have an extra day/night in New York.
Drive to Washington took 9 hours. The last 2 hours went on the last 30 miles or so from Baltimore to DC which I hit smack on Rush Hour.

EU Claim is in. Next I need to sort out the train ticket - Train Company refused to use any discretion to change our advance purchase tickets (I called from the phone once landed & the seat belt lights went out! literally missed the amendment cut off point by less than 10mins) & I had to fork out £135 each for new tickets (First Class Rail as we needed the safety of being able to take all our luggage). Only had 1 refreshment trolley visit during the train journey (this was a 3.30pm train leaving London) & they had no cold drinks. Only Tea, Coffee & room Temperature bottled water. Unless I wanted to pay for something at the bar. Completely opposite to the service when going out, where our train table had cups, glasses, crockery, etc. on our table & the refreshment person visited us between every stop.
As you can imagine... I was already in a grumpy mood having not slept for about 36 hours by the time I got on the train!

Hopefully your travel insurance will be able to assist with the train ticket expense! Good that you finally got home!

'first class' service on trains seems to cease on weekends/public holidays

tbh even on business days it can be dire
