Agreed. The flight's been on sale since April so if any Gs were available when it opened they'll be long gone.

They can pop up at any time - there's no discernible pattern (deliberately, no doubt). Just keep checking as often as you can. Remember, though, that the 747s that operate out of LGW only have 14 seats in UC so if the flight's selling well it may be there'll be no more Gs at all.

Would agree with the advice to check, check and check :)

You do not mention how many Reward Seats you are looking for - two are usualy the number available on the LGW 747 Fleet.

From experience, they release additional reward tickets in in the mornings, so its worth checking daily at around 9-9:30am.

I imagine (but could be completely wrong) that they have chat and a coffee each morning to see what's selling and what's not. If a particular flight is not selling well, they chuck up a G or two once in a while and that happens in the morning UK time.

The other thing to do if you want two seats in Upper is to book one as soon as it becomes available and book a second in Premium. Then keep checking and grab the second as and when that appears. I've done this a few times and not been disappointed. Its only £25 to change or free if you are FC gold. Admittedly my experience was on 346s so there were many more UC seats available. As Gumshoe says, the LGW 747s have a small UC cabin (just 14) so that may be more difficult.

Good luck

My son spent a great deal of time last year waiting for UC rewards to appear travelling to Cancun for an Easter holiday this year. He wanted to book an M fares and then upgrade. However after months and months of checking every day, he finally gave up and ended up booking a VH package instead.

The chances of rewards or upgrade fares on this route are not that easy to find because VS only fly (direct) on two or sometimes three days a week. Peak times are virtually impossible. Hope your March is not covering Easter 2016.

Only twice a day! I was checking every time I went to the computer, up to 6 times in a day and flights came and went very quickly all around the date I wanted. then eventually the Sunday after our flight came up so I changed days and bagged it.
I would say you cannot check too often. But then I can get a bit obsessive about things.

I love the fact that we are al obsessed with getting these G's......some more than others ;-) It is a great feeling when you grab a couple and know you have a super bargain

First post!

Got myself 3 PE reward seats CUN-LGW for next August, so another one here constantly checking several times a day.... Expecting this to be the case for the next few months as at the minute there's nothing showing at all for Jul/Aug LGW/CUN.

I have been doing the same for an upcoming trip next year. I know my date I wish to travel out on and from doing dummy runs on similar dates that are currently on sale it seems that there is good availability on the outward journey to New York however, the return journey is from Miami and from looking at what is available now it seems it will be harder to secure a rewards seat for this leg. I would prefer to book both flights together as the price difference is pretty big when booking separately.

I'm waiting patiently for my dates to become available to see what happens!

Stay positive on the Miami flights, Gritty, as I managed to bag 3x UC and 2x PE upgrades on the same dates to/from there

I have to admit I agre with everyone I would continuously check. I check prices of my hotels for my current booking and have changed my room in the Hilton Barbados 4 times now getting the same room $ 400 cheaper overall.

Flight wise I too have bagged economy miles seats and upgraded slowly as and when availability showed , good luck with your endeavours :-D

Having just booked our return leg on miles (MAN - MCO Aug 2016), I have been checking, checking and checking to see if there was any discernible pattern, and this is what I found;

- Generally seats are released on the half hour, with 9.30, 10.30 and 13.30 being the most common
- PE seats were usually released before EC and UC, with PE often a day earlier (so 29th Sept 15 for 30th Aug 16)
- Often they only release 2 seats to begin with

Good luck
