i've only used it once, on a 333 back from DXB
i was pleasantly surprised, did emails, downloaded a couple of plump word files and did some browsing including using some web-based portals to update info, it was slower than a typical hotel connection and had noticeable latency, but still perfectly usable
there was a fixed data limit but no time limit, i think it was about 13-14 quid for 10MB, i didn't use it all up in the 3-ish hours i was online
btw this aircraft had the arinc wifi service which i believe was the system VS used for the original trial, the newer service is reported to be faster, not sure if the billing is the same

My expectations were low, especially flying across the atlantic. You go through good patches and then it could disappear for ten minutes. Not good enough to stream Netflix and the like but perfectly good enough for emails, texts, social and general web browsing.
It was £15 for 24 hours (thankfully didn't need all that time) and unlimited data. I'm sure I paid for it on an A330 in Jan and it was £15 for a maximum of 100mb or something. Not sure if the policy has changed or the difference in aircraft.

I hope my LGW-MCO flight has it in September - So is it £15ish for unlimited data, or is it capped?
A couple of the LGW/MAN 744's do actually have WiFi installed now (it's an ongoing upgrade across the whole VS fleet), however, last we heard (details in this thread), VS where still waiting to get CAA approval before they can start using it.
AeroMobile works as if you are roaming so you will pay your standard EU roaming charges to use AeroMobile data, though most mobile networks do have specific charge bands for using satellite systems when it comes to calling and texting (EE certainly do anyway). The AeroMobile satellite uplink station is in Norway hence why the mobile network roaming data system thinks you are in the EU.
AeroMobile is still only using Edge connection so it's very slow and only a handful of pax can use the AeroMobile system at any one time as well so it's very very hit and miss for data use. On my last flight on one of the A333's I couldn't get data to work at all with AeroMobile.

Was on an A330 last night. It had the Arinc system and it was £15 for unlimited time but only 40MB. I declined.
