Hi Guys,

How far in advance should I be able to select my seats?
I am flying from LGW to LAS towards the end of April in Premium Economy (booked via Expedia) and although I have been able to select my seats for the outbound leg (was not a great selection remaining unfortunately), I cannot do so for the return leg.
When I go to the "manage my booking" section on the Virgin website, and "select your seat" I simply see "Not allocated yet" for the return leg and cannot choose.

Is this normal, do I just have to wait a while longer before seat selection becomes available?

Thanks.

Others on here may be able to give you a more 'technical' answer to your question I can only state my personal experience.

In Jan I had been able to select our seats (UC) on the outward journey to MIA when I made the booking, but I lost my return seat selections (PE) when I had to change my date of flight coming home from MCO. I was told I would have to wait until T24 and OLCI but that there shouldn't be a problem in getting two seats together.

Some weeks before we left for MIA the seat mapped opened up and just two seats in PE were up for grabs. As we did really want to sit next to each other, the fact they were in the centre rows didn't matter so much, so I chose them. But I was still hoping to change them at OLCI for a window and aisle.

Something made me check the Seat Plan about 4 days before our flight home from MCO and lo and behold the full Seat Plan was open and I quickly changed our choice.

so lesson to me : just keep checking. There seems no sense or reason on when Seat Plans become available ( apart from at time of booking) so it is worth just looking right up until T24.

Thanks again for your reply. Just to clarify, T24 means 24 hours before take-off?
I had emailed VS customer service as soon as I came across the seat allocation issue, but given that the auto reply stated that it may take up to 28 to reply!
