I recently got a virgin credit card. But, now i have joined flying club, i have found that i will have to get a different card to collect miles. It says on the website that i will be able to convert my credit card points to miles when i do this. But if i get the card that gives you two miles per point - will they give me two miles for each point from my old credit card?

Also, because i will have to reapply for this new card so quickly after the other - will this affect my credit rating, getting two credit cards within a few months of each other?

Sorry for so many questions, but do the points i get on my credit card count in anyway towards tier points, or do you only get these for flights? Thanks.

Can't help on the credit card stuff but you can't accumulate tier points by any other way than flying. Well there is a small exception to that involving golf but....

Welcome aboard!

Hi Cinderella,

I had a couple of problems recently with V.C.C. The normal customer service number couldn't help in any way. Eventually I called the Members Shop, they look after all rewards for V.C.C. They handle flying club points and points for a standard card, hopefully they may be able to help you out in some way getting your points converted..... Cannot help on your credit status if you need to apply for a new card, sorry!

Let us know how you get on...... ;)

Welcome to V-Flyer :)

If you have the ordinary Virgin CC and you want to swap this for the Flying Club version, you will have to re-apply for the Flying Club version of the card. They will be able to do you a one-off transfer of your existing CC membership points directly to your Flying Club account, but you will only get this at a 1:1 ratio.

The other thing to bear in mind, is that if you have an out-standing ballance on your ordinary Virgin CC, you cannot ballance transfer this directly to the Flying Club version of the card as you are not allowed to ballance transfer between cards issued by the same company (in this case MBNA) - the only way is to do a 2 step ballance transfer via another non-MBNA issued card.

Applying for another card straight away will not affect your credit rating.

As Decker has already mentioned you will only earn miles and not tier points.

Hope thi helps.

Regards

Hi all,

Could I just clarify that if you ever have any problems transferring miles (including any bonus miles offered by Virgin CC) from your Virgin CC to your flyingclub account, if you phone the Virgin CC main 'helpline' they will tell you to phone Virgin Atlantic.
Virgin Atlantic will then tell you they can do nothing and to go back to Virgin CC. and around you go again. This can be very frustrating, I assure you.

Always ring the Members Shop for Virgin CC because they understand the whole thing, and will arrange the transfer for you.

I hope this helps.

I can see how that would be frustrating! In fact I think I may have a BT moment (a BT moment is that feeling you get after you have pressed 1,7,5,4 and 3 and you end up being told that your call is 'valued' (which it isn't or they would answer it) and so you wait until someone finally answers but you find they can't help so you throw the phone out the window). But what is the members shop?

BTW I have a cracker of a story about a well known UK telephone supplier that happened today. but there's another day.

If you have a Virgin points card and want to get a VS card, take advantage of any offers to get points in the members shop. You can get 5000 points for joining the casino and 3000 for joining Blockbuster DVD rentals. So for a small price, you have 8000 points you can convert to miles once you get your card :D

I did this, and just had 13k miles added to my FC account [^]

Well, you could do a search for that phrase ;) That would've returned this thread (amongst many others) :D

Cheers

Well yes I could. Mind you, as I am on the boat tonight and therefore working on my PDA, it wouldn't have helped as searches bomb out on the PDA. Of course had I walked up to the car, booted up the PC, got the wireless working (yeh sure) then I could have done a search. No doubt it would have turned up the thread you point me to, although it doesn't answer my question - what is the members shop.

I see. Its part of virgin money. As I have the VS FC card (or I would had it not been cloned when I was away!) it doesn't apply to me. Thats presumably why I was totally ignorant of it. Thanks prieffer.

My Apologies if I confused anyone.

I meant the member's shop with Virgin Money, who arrange your Virgin CC with MBNA.

Sorry

Its OK, you didn't confuse anyone. I had not come across it, thats all. Seeing as you were recomending the shop to get out of a sticky situation I wanted to understand properly:)
