Ditching the 787s might sound logical from a simplification perspective, but VS would still need to acquire replacement aircraft for them and train up any crew that exclusively work 787s on A330/A350. Given the financials, it’s a lot of money that would need to be spent and might be difficult to justify at this time compared to retaining and refurbishing 787s (the oldest is now 10 years old).

The irony is that one reason why VS have A330s in the first place is because of the 787s being delayed for up to 3 years, though having A340s at the time helped as the A330 is effectively the twin-engined version of the A340 and there’s very little in it capacity-wise between the long-retired A340-300s and A330-300s when you look at fuselage lengths.

Re the B787; remember a lot if not all of these where grounded for a long time due to the engine problems so they may be up to 10 years old but many of them have actually flown much, much less than the equivalent age A330

All very valid points ditching LGW and re scheduling the entire network with faster turn time has helped with efficiency massively. I jet feel like the leadership has gone back on there word with the clubhouse. So I have sent a very polite letter asking for clarity on this decision and the planes for Manchester going forward. As 5 years ago VS wanted to be the number 1 long hall airline from MAN. And let's be honest a shared lounge like the 1903 or even a SkyTeam will not be the same.

Don’t forget that most/all of the A330s spent many months stored at places like Ciudad Real, MAN, DSA during the COVID pandemic, whilst whatever flying did occur was on with 787s and A350s including the freight-only routes that popped up. Nonetheless, it would be interesting to see the current cycle/hours figures for the A330 and 787 fleets.

VS were even using the B789's at MAN during COVID for the BGI and ISB routes (the only routes op'ing at the time). The only time the B789's have ever visited MAN.

There is a new bar/restaurant open in the space VS we’re going to put their lounge.
So we are going to be in the 1903 lounge for a very long time I suppose.
In upper class, it was just sparking wine before take off now. Champers in the air, but these cuts are getting silly.

The lounge was to be located along the same corridor as Escape/1903, just on the left before you got to the Escape reception. It seems odd there’d be a restaurant there as it was totally off the main area.

Whoops, I assumed it was to be in the big space to the right of the lounges entry corridor. Sorry.
Thinking about it, if it was to the right, there would be no windows facing the apron
