On the tracking page it says planned take off is now 17:45 (23:45UTC)

The web site is obviously getting a serious amount of hits as the pages are taking a long time to load.

Now approaching Japan and everything seems fine. Just the Pacific to cross and they're in the home straight.

Good luck, Steve!

Apparently they have a concern about fuel

Just like a real VS A346 flight then... :D

Sorry. Cheap shot, I know. But I couldn't resist.

Well he broke another record yesterday, and it looks like he's had a good enough tailwinds over the Pacific to allay the fuel worries! [y] (BBC report)

Steve's just approaching the California coast - looks like landing expected back in Salina this afternoon ("lunchtime" been quoted, but your guess is as good as mine whether that's a UK or a US lunchtime).

Way to go Steve, fingers crossed for the last push [8D]

Cheers

Given he's just off the coast now, and it's 13:08 UK time, I'm guessing that'll be lunchtime in the US.

Good luck Steve!

Steve has just left the Rocky Mountains of Colorado behind him, and heading for the Kansas State Border. Very nearly there...

Echo the comments above, very well done Steve and the team; another first for Virgin and Sir Richard!

Pete, as Michael says, can we sent a formal congratulatory message?

Already done ;)

As it happens, the crew at GlobalFlyer had contacted me over a year ago, so I had the email address of the Managing Editor of the website - so I sent him our good luck messages earlier today.

Well done Steve! And congratulations to all the team involved.

Agree with the congratulations.

A question: how soon will the Rutan technology start to impact commercial aircraft?
