Bazz - so it would make sense for me when flying to Shanghai next month to maybe avoid the Uk - But who would you suggest fly with from Europe in Business class that would come near UCS

Well it's always hit and miss especially if connecting thro US where the TSA can never make their ming up if it should be locked or unlocked. Getting off a 10hr UK-US and remembering to unlock just in case never works for me.

Just use TSA approved locks and always lock. They're getting cheaper by the year.
BTW, the DfT have confirmed in their statement that the "no carry-on luggage" policy will not be a long term thing. From http://www.dft.gov.uk...

I'm sure that once the terror threat subsides, we'll see things go back to "normal". However, I wouldn't be surprised to find we're prevented from taking liquids and certain other items aboard, unless they are in checked luggage.

I think liquids are gone until the time when testing equipment is widespread and 100% reliable.
I wouldn't have any issues with that given what this scheming bunch have been planning.

Likewise. However, here's a thought...
Will the carriers who only offer buy-on-board refreshments (including all drinks being b-o-b) be mandated to provide free water and other liquid refreshment, because pax won't be able to take water with them anymore?
My guess is that if the airlines want something, they will get it.

Doesn't help much with your electronic car key though - if your case gets rifled and the key is lost - you're basically stuffed. Not all cars come with the option of a standard key...
