I fly UC on 7th Sept so if the 3 month rotation is accurate I should have a new menu all together?

Thanks Marc - I love chicken but hate BBQ sauce so looks good for me on the way home next week in PE.

I'm no wine expert but do like Shiraz and was disappointed they didn't have one on my last inbound flight. Might have to upgrade just to sample it!

The Good news - We got the new menu yesterday ....

The Bad news - No menus were loaded so will have to try and remember what the choices were. It'll be a little easier when I get home - sorry to keep you waiting.

Just looking at the sample menu for the 45 and its still showing the best of British menu: chicken tikkla masalla, porky white sausages. Not sure if they've updated the clubhouse copy yewt or not then, will see when on plane

cheers!

Sorry for wait, here is what I can remember (minus the long winded names;))

For starters there was a choice of a chicken salad or soup (possible tomato)

Main courses were fillet of beef (excellent), mushroom stroganoff (??) and duck something or other.

Desserts were ice cream and chocolate sauce and one more.

Sorry for the mess, but when the staff are reading from a piece of paper and by the 7th or 8th time its just beef mushrooms or duck it gets a bit confussing or is that the champagne ;)

Overall a 7.5 out of 10

David

ps just to fill you in Ladybird was supposed to be going to Manchester and had not got the new menus loaded. I assume that because this was the first flight of the evening, there was no other planes to pinch some off. ( at least we had oddessy:))

pps - lets see how close I am ;)

At last! The return of a decent steak! And duck is certainly an interesting addition. Mind you, it'll be November before we're off again - probably back to salmon and hake with stinky rice by then...

Liking the sound of that one [y]

Might be acceptable. The rest are rather nasty though...

Yes a mild shiver hit my spine too. I'm not averse to trying stuff though. There is an answer, if the crew will oblige - BYO.

Cheers, Howard

On the longer VS8/20/23, there also seems to be an additional appetiser choice of a salmon roesti (and while the soup is loaded too, it's not shown on the menu), and the lighter bites are: mozarella, prosciutto and salami sandwich (billed as a "panini", but ex-SFO, is of course on a sourdough roll!), a veggie tofu stir-fry, and something else I can't remember.

Cheers,
Mike

Thanks VSCSS! :)

The outbound sounds lovely and i look forward to sampling it, although i have to say that its a shame the return is a rehash of some of the older dishes (the Bisque and the Mushroom Wellington have been doing the rounds for yonks).

Still, nice to seem some changes! [y] Fingers crossed these go down as well as the Best of British menu

Thanks,
Sarah

I have not had any of the wines in either category but your rating of "nasty" makes me think I may want to sneak a bottle of Isabel Sauvignon Blanc and some nice Bourgogne from the Cote d'Or into my suite!!!

Err.. how to say this without sounding pompous..? The truth is that I've never travelled in VS Y and only ever flown once in PE. And that was in 1997 so my experience is fogged by the passing of the years. :)

Hey that's cool (I've never flown PE or Y either) -- I actually meant if you'd ever seen a list in PE/Y that appealed to your tastes more than the list in UC...

Sorry, but I tend not to go looking at PE/Y stuff... :)

So nobody knows what the cattle have in their nosebags then?![:w] (excuse the bovine / equine crossover!)

OK, I accept that most of the members/posters here enjoy the heady delights of UC or at the very least, PE, however as around 80% of the seats are Y surely we can get a perspective for us 'mere mortals';)

I am new to VS (MAN-MCO-MAN in September)and would like some inkling of what to expect!!

Thanks[y]

This sounds like the same stuff we had around this time last year. The chicken was rather good for a Y meal.
