Because the Wcl seats weren't ready to be refitted!

Quick update for the Aircraft Database.

There are now NO A340-600s with the old Wcl config... all have the increase in seats.

The following aircraft are flying with the New Wcl seats....

G-VSHY
G-VFOX
G-VGOA
G-VEIL
G-VNAP
G-VGAS
G-VFIZ
G-VYOU
G-VRED

Do they also have the new config, and dedicated PE loos, and water fountains, and crockery .... oh I know I'm going on but it's all good stuff!

Do any of the 343's have the new seats, and typically which routes are they flying?

Thanks.

No 343's have the new seats yet, but all LHR will have them buy mid summer next year.

I read somewhere that all the A346's should have the new Wcl/Ycl seats by the end of this year.

Just a word of warning there are 2 toilet on either side at the back of W in the new config so try and avoid those seats otherwise could get abit noisy and also row 19 do not have windows.

So I guess there is no way that the loos at the back of the 346 cabin are dedicated to the PE pax now then :(

However - it seems that over 50% of the 346 fleet have been converted to the new Wcl seating already - is that correct? A fairly good chance of getting the new seat on my next flight at end of Nov :)

Incidentally - does anyone know if the VS9/10 are switching to 744 soon? The last 3 months it's been operated by 346's, but it's showing as being a 744 for our return flight on 27th Nov. Hope it remains 744 - the upper deck was the influential decision to take that flight rather than an earlier one!

The toilets at the back of the PE cabin on the A346 should be only for PE pax, as part of the new PE service, it states there is a dedicated toilet for PE pax, although I am sure some Y pax will still use it.

The list of current a/c with the new W seats are listed on page 2 of this thread, V-Ben is doing a fab job of keeping us informed of any changes[y]

I am not sure that VS9/10 is going to change to a 744 full time - our flight in June is on an A346 and I know a friends in Jan is also a A346 both ways, I guess that VS will use the 744 when it suits.

There are curtains right after the loos to seperate W and Y class. There is nothing stopping the Y passengers sneaking pass the curtains. However I did notice Y pax started using the PE loos once the curtains went back and preparing for landing.

With the new config and the only galley is right at the back of the craft with me sitting in row 34, it was along way to just grab some snacks during mid flight.

There used to be one window in row 19 so long as you leaned forward.

Is this not so in the new config?

Only just. I was in 20A but row 19 was empty, and as v:Port was having problems, the flight attendant suggested I try 19A just for the IFE. I duly tried 19A and the window is really level with the seat back of 18A- some visibility but not much use for having a good look out or taking pictures.

Thanks drnoble, I think I'll change my seat to 21.
Row 20 has gone.

Was on the VS3 on Thursday and it was changed from a 343 to a 346 so we had the new seats. Have to say they seemed quite comfortable but not astonishingly better.

Agree with the comments re the last row of the centre section of seats - row 23 I think - as the loos are where the sixth row of window seats would have been row 23 in the centre is DIRECTLY across the aisle from the loo door and you will NOT want to be seated there for obvious reasons, nor probably row 22 in the centre for the same reasons.[:$]

A plus was that a curtain was pulled across to screen off the PE section at the back, and that seemed discourage most pax in Y from using what appears to be a PE loo![y]

Row 19 does have 1 window on the new config just like the old one but like on the original config you do have to lean forward a bit, all other PE rows have 2 windows.

Had G-VRED (Airbourne 19th Oct '06) on the VS1 - 22nd Oct '06. Having replaced the normal 744 that had "technical difficulties" - the IFE packed up ---twice. Rebooting the IFE takes 40 minutes, then it was running in some sort of fail-back mode. No CD jukebox and the 8 films were on a loop, so no pausing and popping off to inspect the new loos!
I thought the new seats at the back had less leg-room than the old 346 config. Seems the lack of room from some of the 744 seats has been imported to the newer aircraft, though maybe it is mind tricks.

Flew out on VS9 yesterday with the new PE seats and cabin interior. The cabin had 2 dedicated PE toilets though one appeared to be out of use. Overall I was impressed:) Trip report to follow soon

Just received a swanky looking brochure in the post this morning from FC - detailing the new PE seats & service. As V-Ben states here, the new food service & dedicated cabin crew are starting in December.

Cheers

I have just received a nice email from FC telling me all about the new PE improvements and confirming that its all go live in December,it is all presented very impressively I must say and does certainly wet my appetite for my next PE flight[y].

I'm obviously not important enough to get a Brochure posted to me though[:(]

Looks like the brochure has been mailed to Au's only according to the covering letter.

Brochure is very bland and lot's of empty pages - VS could have done a lot better.....:D

Whilst the official launch has been delayed to Dec (alot of crew feedback on how to better serve the new catering, especially on the A346s where the galley is serving BOTH Jcl and Wcl meals has lead to this) alot of Nov flights will still have the trial catering.

I've been very excited about the new Wcl product for quite sometime... the full launch campaign is only just warming up here. This represents a significant investment for VS, so some more time has been spent making sure we've got it right.

In particular the dedicated crew should mean Wcl passengers get a standard of recognition unheard of on other carriers.

Full LHR reconfig by mid 2007.
