Well after a 26 hour delay, we are now in the lounge at LGW awaiting a BA shuttle - the trip back was an experience, but they looked after us pretty good in U/C. My shuttle was rebooked for today as was the car to take me home.

We even had a personel apology from the captain in Upper - a first for me, but very well done - although she didn't wander back into economy as there was one or two "militants"

This one might merit a TR.

But like you Decker ... I'm home (nearly)

David good to hear you got home safely albeit late.

Thanks for the clubhouse experience it made my trip to MCO

Folks
My comments were directed to more what is becoming the norm at LHR/LGW (delay =2hrs)as opposed to the current weather problems etc but do accept problems do arise. appologies if that was not clear

Easy answer, but not the cheapest is to book your connecting flights on the same PNR with VS, then they are on the hook to figure out how to get you to where you need to go if the VS flight is late.

Doubt that has much bearing chap - I did this for a trip out to MCO in Sept 04 where I was connecting straight on to LAS. Booked in W on the VS 15 which had a long delay, as I was going to miss my onward flight, they offered to move me to the earlier 27 which didn't have as long as delay but wanted to downgrade me to Economy as PE was full already due to upgrades. Got to love the outsourced GroundStar staff for suggesting that to a customer with FC Au and on a full W ticket. Fortunately a proper uniformed member of staff who I had been chatting to earlier whilst waiting for my friend to arrive came over and moved me up to Upper.

Irony was that the 27 itself was then delayed as they had to go back to the terminal to offload a passenger and their luggage. Made the connecting flight though, just.

Thanks,
Richard
