Yes, the companion ticket was issued immediately for me and I did n't spot it for 9 months ! The PE upgrades appeared at the renewal date of my Mastercard.

I have now secured my flights using my free PE upgrades and also booked another UC for July to keep my Au card.

Thank you Richard for all your help.

The Y -> PE upgrade vouchers are (allegedly) issued after your anniversary date. If you had the old Mastercard it will be this anniversary date, not the date you switched to the AmEx card. Companion vouchers should be credted as soon as you reach the spend threshold (£15k for the White AmEx).

Thanks,
Sarah

Is the upgrade a cabin upgrade - can it work PE->UC? or is it only available as an ECON->PE? I was under the impression it was ECON->PE only, but may be mistaken.

The companion ticket is just that, it matches whatever you buy.

The Economy to Premium Economy Upgrades are as described, they are not mentioned in any marketing literature as a single class upgrade. So I would not expect for them to be used in any other way. When they appear on your flying club account, it is clearly stated as VAA Credit Card Econ>Premium Reward Upgrade

OK, here's another question. As stated the PE reward voucher comes into effect within 30 days of your renewal date, which in my case is 12/08 as the card is issued for 2 years.( I am assuming it is the yearly anniversary, but people have been using the word 'renewal date') I have decided to cancel the card after 1 year as I can't see the value spending £115 on something that I have a hard time using, and that causes embarrassment every time I try and use it. Does this mean that I will not be issued with my voucher, something along the lines of another post awhile back that someones stated that if you are canceling your card you do not receive the points for the last month.[:?]

So you were right

Sorry to drag this up again if its been posted elsewhere but the T&C have now changed to

Any W booking class fare applies.

Looks like the info was correct[:?][:0]

Am I correct in that there only has to be a T class ticket available, it doesn't matter about U? That's how the Flying Club explained it to me, that as long as the T is there, they book it as a U and upgrade you. [:?]

Maybe I confused the point by adding it to the Amex thread.

As per the terms and conditions It looks like S fares no longer qualify for companion tickets or upgrades

Sorry to bring up an old thread; I just got an unexpected upgrade voucher and am trying to work out if I can use it. I've read through all of the posts, but I'm not sure whether there has to be T and U availability. One post suggests there does, but another that only T availability is needed. I'm assuming that (sadly) both are needed, but if someone could confirm this, I'd be grateful.

U availability by itself, or with T?

U on its own. VS will 'create' a T, charge you the miles, and then upgrade it to the U.

Just to keep on bashing this thread...

Is the validity of the upgrade vouchers the same as the companion vouchers - i.e. one year from date of issue - but the flight itself can be outside the 1 year as long as it is booked before the expiry?
