Michael Winner, VS to Barbados, today's STimes

This time Virgin flew from Heathrow. Much better. No letter from his Richardship, but we were chauffered to the airport in a lovely Mercedes.

Oh, so he REALLY got a 'true to life' (ahem, Volvo) Upper Class experience then... [ii]

The piece reads like many of our very own TR's - how comes we don't get paid a small fortune for writing a few column inches a week [:(!]

I'm still mystified by Winner's popularity, or perhaps his presence in the media.

OK, so he was known as a film director but aren't the films only know for being Michael Winner films? [?] Now he just seems to be known as being a pompous ass, and yet he continues to rake in the money by the boatload. I'm a pompous ass and am yet to be raking in money at the rate of Winner. Maybe I need to direct something mediocre for the silver screen.

Poor bloke does everyone hate him or are we a tinsy winsy bit jelous that the old rotund bloke is stinkin rich and proud of it and not ashamed to enjoy it as opposed to apologising.

Mrs Buns and I were picked up two weekends back in a Merc - looks like the 'City' drivers have to work some weekends and end up doing some work for the airline side of Tristar's business

There is not much difference in leg room when sitting in the rear BTW

Sorry to drag up and old thread, but I was amused by Mr Winner's review of the new T5 restaurants.

In the space of a few short paragraphs he manages to get a number of digs in at Willie Walsh, isn't very pleasant about Gordon Ramsey, BA and T5 in general, then gets a nice plug in for the VS Clubhouse at the end. [;)][:D]
