Hi Boo Hoo,

I did look at the UC sale tickets first but unfortunately the departure dates were from the 1st July. I need to go from 28th June, hubby's 50th on 27th. (Party time [^]), overnight in hotel then flying out on Sat. Daughter getting married on 12th July so have to be back in plenty of time for that.

Stay at the Burj is for 2 nights, need advice on tipping as 24hr butler service [:?]. Shall try out the restaurants you mentioned and will report back before you go in August.

Hi Honeylamb,

I noted that you had been there recently and have just read your link. Sounds brilliant to me. So glad I have booked it. We shall be staying in the Exec Plus rooms so hopefully they will be of the standard mentioned in your report.[^]. Also, another Gordon Ramsay restaurant to try out [y]. The last one we dined at was at the Ritz Carlton, Sugar Loaf Mountain, Co Wicklow. That was extremely good.

We have been allocated seats 2K & 3K on the A346 outbound and 6K & 7K inbound. Would you know whether these are good seats? The UC seats fairly empty at the moment so could possibly change seats if need be.

Well we were in the 'ordinary' rooms, so they should be of at least equal standard but you will have the Exec lounge I expect. We didn't. We didn't try out the Gordon Ramsay restaurant as Aer Hohn's taste in food is very basic. It would be like casting pearl's before swine. [:D]

With regard to the seats I can't comment on 6 & 7K but 3K is my favourite seat on the 346. While 2K is OK, it is next to the loo so you may like to reconsider changing to 4K if it is available

only slight issue with 7K is it's almost next to the bassinet - but what's the chances ...

Hi Honeylamb,

Although only 10 seats taken at the moment, 4k is unavailable! My only hope is that as it is a night flight, most folk will be sleeping so trips to the loo will be less than usual.

Hi McMaddog,

Excuse my ignorance but can you explain your comment about the bassinet[?]

Hi Classybird

to echo what HoneyLamb has said about the Hilton Dubai Creek, the level of service and the 'boutique' feel combine to make it a relaxing time.

Mrs Buns & i were allocated an Executive Room on the two occasions we have been there and you are checked in in the Executive Lounge (now on the second floor) when we stayed there in March. The Executive Room is open all day serving coffee and tea and we waited here whilst our room was made available (less than an hour) after being picked up from the airport in the morning VS flight. There is a happy hour every evening between 6 & 8 when alcohol is served.

The Rooms we have had were corner aspect and had everything you needed

Feel free to PM if you have any other questions

There's some pretty heavily discounted Z fares going on in the latest sale, less than £1,100 return to NY is as low as I've ever seen it I think! Shame I still can't afford it though :-(

Hilton Dubai Creek is one of my favourite hotels.[^][y][:D]

We prefered it to being on the beach as the views from the rooms are fab over the Creek & there are fewer children as it is more business orientated hotel. There is a free transfer bus ( remember to tip the driver) to the Hilton on the beach. Remember to book a place on the courtesy bus. ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY.

Glad to hear that Honeylamb[y] Apart from hating 'the needle', it would have been a tad difficult getting hubby to have the jabs as he thinks we may just be going to Europe and I don't want him to think otherwise until we get to the clubhouse!!![:w]

You might need to rethink that... you husband might guess that he isn't flying to Europe as soon as he sees that you are checking in for 'Virgin Atlantic'... also the check-in agent always/mostly will ask 'where are you flying to today?' when you first approach them. Still, I wouldn't worry - finding out at check-in would be mind blowing enough [;)][8D]

Have a great trip. When are you going again?

Hi Boo,

Going on Sat 28th June, CDC will pick us up (hopefully!) and as long as the driver does not ask or say anything, then when we arrive, I shall poke my head out of the window and tell the agent that it is a surprise trip and could they not mention destination. At the Clubhouse, whilst indulging in a drink or two, I shall present hubby with a Dubai Mini Explorer pocket guide book. That should be a dead giveaway[:D]

I've also booked him a Collagen Eye Treatment, I thought he might be in need of it after the friday night birthday bash which I know will be a very, very late finish!

Ah! Good luck with it - sounds fab! [8D]

My husband probably still wouldn't get it when I gave him the Dubai Mini Explorer pocket guide... [;)]. With my lovely husband, it would probably be when we land and he sees a sign saying 'Welcome to Dubai'... [:I].

Still, I just wouldn't be able to keep a secret like that from him - I would just burst [:D]

The cowshed is great - a really good extra in the clubhouse. Haven't had the collegan eye treatment, but have had the facial and it was great.

It will be amazing and I hope that you get around to writing a trip report afterwards :)
