Well i loved the view of the alps from the cockpit jumpseat when flying into and out of Milan.

Arriving or departing into any of the NYC airports.

Arriving into SYD with the view of the bridge, opera house and the CBD.

The one that really struck me lately was when i arrived back into ORK two weeks ago. Even though ive flown into ORK hundreds of times, what struck me was the landscape, espically flying over the sea then turning onto green fields. It just amazed me for some reason.

* One extraordinary daytime flight from DEL when we flew over Afghanistan with flawless visibility. Take the picture of the Rockies above, make the mountains twice as high, fill the window with them, add lots more pointy bits and cover in snow. Utterly mesmirising for over an hour (even the crew were impressed). Then we saw a comet on finals to LHR. [^] [:D]
* Hoping from Savai'i to Upolo on a Polynesian Airlines puddle jumper, so low you could see the coral reefs
* The Belize coastline (and landing at the International airport in a Cessna)
* Early morning arrivals into LHR ex Asia when the easterly approach is being used - I can see my house. [:)]
* Easterly approach to HKG when the air is clear
* Daytime overlight of Siberia - the sense of space and nature, plus realising just how enormous Lake Baikal is.

Forgot about that one. Had a BKK-LHR flight seven years ago when we had a superb view of the '-stan' countries.

Aer John's post reminded me of one I forgot and that was flying into LHR from LAX. We flew along the south coast of Ireland and I was able to spot the various towns along the coastline and see the place where I worked (some 20 miles from home). Unfortunately when we got to the town where we lived there was a small cloud obscuring it so I couldn't see the house [:#] It took us another 8 hours to get back!! We have flown along the south coast on other flights but either it has been too dark or too cloudy so that was a real treat.

Another fantastic sight was the islands of the Great Barrier Reef when flying out of Cairns

For me, the BKK flights over the mountains of Afganistan and the PVG flights where you can clearly see the Great Wall just North of Beijing.

Ok on my list are:

- Flying down the Thames at night just after they had completed HSBC and Citibank towers which were all lit up.
- Flying CHC-AKL over Mt Taranaki
- Frozen river after frozen river across Siberia
- Ayres Rock enroute CHC-SIN
- Great Wall of China just after leaving PEK.
- Landing into Queenstown, NZ.

Sadly of the five times I have been into SYD I have never had a view as pictured above.

While onboard have you seen a view that has made you say 'wow'.

1982, MAN to LAX via Bangor, Maine, she was a Stewardess called Jayne.

Taking off from JFK at night in the fog. As we came through the fog just saw the top of the Empire State and the Twin Towers lit up it was an amazing sight!

Some of my favourites are, flying in to Sydney seeing the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, flying into Perth seeing the city and thinking I am home. Had a great view over the Iranian mountains, they looked so close and snow capped it was just so amazing and also on the way back to Paris from Mauritius there were some island off the coast of Saudi Arabia, they looked like the Maldives. We asked the FA to ask the captain what islands they were, and they have no name.

Further on that flight we flew along the coast of Italy and saw the bay of Naples, Isle of Capri. It was really clear and SO amazing.

I will try and post some of the pictures.

Tinkerbelle, loved that shot of Kilimanjaro.

I caught this shot of Mt Rainier on the way to SFO a while back.
