The next question, of course, is when will the A380 put in an appearance alongside VS planes at LHR. Might be a reason for an impromptu social [:?]

Apparently its scheduled for LHR in December.

The A380 first heads down under to Australia, and then Dubai (for the air show)

In all the publications I have read, all the airlines have made great noises about the A380 but I have yet to see anyone tell us the seat pitch they are going to offer in ecconomy. I would be very surprised to see anything different to existing aircraft seat pitch which is leg numbingly tight. I can only expect to see 600 people uncomfortable instead of 400.

You're right that details have yet to emerge, however what we do know is the A380 has loads more floor space per passenger than the B747 (something like 30% IIRC).

What we dont know is how much room the "extra's" will take up, but assuming they dont take up too much room, then there should be more pitch in Y.

We'll find out what SQ do next year - this should be a good guide I would have thought....

Singapore say there will be no more than 480 seats and that the Skysuites and Spacebeds will be very different.

Sounds like more for all ... be very keen to see what they offer.

While I am sure the spin doctors are, or shortly will, start off on the 'new age of air travel' thread, I am equally sure that ultimately CAA rules (or whichever rules it is) will 'adjust' to allow Y pax to be crammed into veal-pen proportioned seats - "800 paying pax is too tempting to pass over":Thus spake Adam Smith, and the multitude saw that Smith's word was good (or in English - market forces will surpress man to the lowest common denominator)

Well Sailor, you may be right but SIA have good track record and see this:

An interesting artical, and I am pleased to see the bowling, gym and other unrealistic gumph bumpped round the leeward mark. But note the careful use of words like 'economicaly viable'. Once the 550 limit is out the way...'

But as you say, maybe I am seeing the glass half empty. Only time will tell, and I hope I am wrong.

Just had to restore this thread simply to point out some of the great photo's doing the rounds following the F-WWOWs trip to the Far East and Australia. Check out Airliners.net for a selection.

Not quite sure how they redid the logo but it was sporting Singapore Airlines in Changi and Qantas when it arrived in Oz. Let's hope it has the Virgin logo when it arrives at LHR.

She spent a day in Brisbane to have the Qantas logo put on, before going on to SYD.

Cheers

Yep, it's just a decal but nevertheless it looks really great. I am too hoping that they will do this when it arrives at LHR, and it's very possible, I'm only disapointed that they don't do the whole aircraft with the airline's livery.

That particular one WWOW is not for anyone. It is destined to stay with Airbus. At the time (Friday) it should still have been marked up with the SQ logo.
