I thought I'd post a coda to this issue, since a few minutes ago I just completed my latest booking to the US.

Despite my much preferring many aspects of VS, and despite the fact that this admission may well get me kicked straight out of V-flyer moments after I arrived [:0], the booking is on BA. As I mentioned, the main reason is that the lounge access makes too big a difference - even at the cost of a more expensive ticket. Anyone who's waited in EWR will know what I mean.

A little frustrating, because I'd really rather be flying Virgin, but hopefully at some point they'll beat BA on this loyalty thing, as they do in most other areas.

I hope so too - but it seems to be very sluggish in coming. I've had to - somewhat reluctantly - sign up for BA airmiles. It's either that or tether myself entirely to wherever Virgin flies. Even I am not that sad. Well, maybe I am....:)

And another question - those of you who have what looks like a flying club card and a flag along with your nnames - how do you do it?

I have to agree about silver status. It has made no difference to us, as our son is disabled we always get to use the PE check-in anyway[y], and the Gex/Hex are useless to us as we use the car[:#] Some other perks for silver would be much more useful.
