We're not lost yet :). If BA Club had been full fare and not half Z we'd have probably still went for VS. Trouble is I'm well over qualified for Au again for another couple of months so I may as well get Ag on BA. My flights in August should see this achieved comfortably.

But when you compare flights out of LGW, there's very little, if anything, in it - although I'm not sure what the BA lounge is like there. Then consider paying twice as much for VS...? Hmm, think I'm talking myself into a BA flight here.

Oh, don't forget BA have an Arrivals lounge at Gatwick...

The Terraces lounge at LGW is nothing to write home about. I've never used the arrivals lounge which is in fact a room at the Meridian Hotel next door. It gets slated on Flyertalk but Ive personally never set foot in it.

The BA First lounge at LGW is one of the best anywhere on the BA network and you only need a bit of gold platic to get in;)Having said that last time we flew from Gatwick I booked VS because the LGW CH is my favorite.

BA Arrivals at LGW is indeed in the Sofitel (used to be Le Meridien) next door. It's not great, but at least you can get some food and a shower, which is more than you can on VS.

Sorry to bring this old fish up again, but I just wanted to let you good people know that plans for our Barbados trip have just come to a rather happy conclusion. We were SO close to booking with BA for this trip, but after having one last desperate look at ExpertFlyer I was rather pleased to see a veritable glut of Z fares flying out of MAN in May. All three of us in UC for under 3 and a half grand! Result... [y]

Well done, seems like a good price, well worth waiting for! How did the fares breakdown in the end?

Thanks all. Nice that the waiting game paid off.

Worked out at around £1500 each and £150 for mdvipond jr. (plus taxes). Last time I looked, BA was coming out much the same, but we'd have had to pay for MAN-LGW on top of that. Just rather pleased that we haven't been forced to defect (yet?)...
