I'm with DragonLady here.

The only reason a celebrity should have a part of a public area screened off for their exclusive use is if they are in danger of some threat. A particularly hated celebrity or possibly one going through some intense media coverage at that time for instance, though if that is the case, why not go by private jet?. The excuse of 'wanting some privacy' doesnt really wash. They are celebrities and like it or not they are in the limelight, though I hardly think the confines of a business class lounge is the place likely attract streams of adoring fans anyway. More likely the odd glance on recognizing who they were. If anything, the celebs i have noticed either in a lounge or elsewhere have always grabbed my attention not by their face but by the crowd around them. I spent 11 hours on a flight with Chris Rock and had no idea - until i noticed the crew fawning and holding us all back on the aircraft so he could get off ahead of us all. If they want peace and quiet then i honestly think HoneyLamb's suggestion would yield greater results.

I also think the Clubhouse staff shouldnt be there to 'look after' celebs in any manner different to other passengers. Isnt that what their entourage is for?

Sorry to any celeb lovers out there, i just dont put people in the media on a pedestal.

Thanks,
Sarah

American comedian - actually very funny. Responsible for the tv show 'Everybody Hates Chris', and some of the best stand-up to come out of the US in years. Think the Richard Pryor of today.

Yes Richard Pryor is dead. Chris Rock follows on from his 'style' of comedy. Very upfront and very graphic. Both have broken the mould of being american black comedians (Afro-Carribean if you HAVE to be PC - and they wouldn't ) in a very positive way. Neither of them went down the 'Cosby' route, but decided to show society as, and for what,it really is.

Two very funny men who specialise in observational humour.

Isn't odd that the 'A list' are travelling business class (albiet a good one) rather than First on NH, BA or whoever?

I certainly find it sad that VS feel the need to fawn like this. From observation with BA, there might be some discrete Special Services involvement and possibly an escort to lounge and plane but none of this zoning things off business nor OTT attention on board.

VS is all they've got left. They've been banned from the rest.

I agree though, why aren't they travelling on a carrier in F? Sure, a few carriers have a ban on kids in F, but not all of them.

Madonna and Guy Ritchie are clearly short of a few quid. Speaking from their £12m Marylebone house, they were complaining in one of the free London rags yesterday that you can't pick up a house in central London for under £10m. Oh, and Madonna's chauffeur picked up £2,500 in parking tickets last year waiting for her to come out of Yoga class.

A threat, or the threat of the CH (or wherever you are) suddenly turning chaotic as everyone rushes to get a glimpse of the famous person. Not providing privacy can actually end up being detrimental to the the rest of us.

That being said, it needs to be done in such a way that service isn't compromised for all other paying passengers.

I'd be intrigued to know how often that actually happens. I'm not picking on you, just in disbelief that a celebrity in a business class lounge would attract hysteria in that manner.

I wouldn't have thought that there are many people whose mere presence in the CH would potentially cause a problem, so I don't think this will become a regular occurrence.

I have seen lots of politicians, musicians and TV people in the various lounges over the years, none of whom seemed to elicit any more than the occasional nudge and discreet pointing at from other pax.

There are however a small number of true A listers that may need a small security presence to ward off unwanted attention (if indeed, the attention is unwanted). I would say Madonna with child (sorry [:I][}:)] ) would probably fall into that category. I can't think that many, if any, of the other names who have been mentioned in the past as being in the CH would qualify for this.

If there is going to be a VIP area, then I suppose that the area upstairs with the door out to the terrace would be the ideal area - not the children's play area. This makes even more sense now that the door out to the 'terrace' appears to be permanently locked (at least it is a while since I have seen it open).

There is a VIP area in the JFK Clubhouse, but last time I was part of a group of V-Flyers in there, we made short work of the rope blocking it off, and it became the 'V-Flyers on Tour' area. [;)][}:)]

What does washed up mean to you? To me it would mean someone who is no longer successful.

Who has the current UK number one in the singles chart (on downloads alone I might add)? Her 13th UK number one. The album, coming out next Monday, is also likely to go to number one. The single and album are also looking like going to number one in the US too.

Washed-up just doesn't seem right. It would be funny if it was even remotely true.

I have listened to that new album and its bland, boring and sounds like everything else..
So is this rubbish she has at number one, whatever that is worth these days, as it seems sell five copies and your'e in the charts.
Yes, she was good in her dance days, now its same old sounds like everyone else. This single she has out is a rip off of another girls singers song I can't even remember the name of (that was also forgettable, something to do with high school marching band or whatever)
She is past it wioth nothing to offer anymore.

Absolutely, I regularly see Macca on his own having breakfast in the local cafe in St Johns Wood without any security. I think he has gone on record as saying security attracts attention. [oo]

Exactly, I could reel off the names off the A list people I have shared flights with that were great, the Z list is much shorter and for the most part they were complete w*****s.

Not so true, having dealt with celebs and their security people there are very few that are complete idiots, Mariah Carey's would fall into that group.

You're very welcome to your opinion, as we all are. I for one believe the finances speak for themselves. She's worth over £300,000,000 and is continuing to rake it in. She's sold over 250 million records. Her next tour is set to break her own world record. She's the highest grossing female artist ever. This whole matter is about money. It's not just because she's a celebrity.

Digital sales of 4 Minutes to get her to no.1 were 40,634... which is low by Leona Lewis standards. It had been on sale for four weeks before that, so total sales-to-date are around 120,000. The physical is just out this week so we'll see what sales that goes up to.

I happen to think the new album is very good. 4 Minutes is not something to judge it by. It's a traditional Madonna album at its heart with plenty of tracks which grow and grow on you. She did right to hire Pharell, but she could have done without Trousersnake.

If her appearance wasn't a VS publicity stunt; she paid for it. Since most of you are so concerned about the money you've paid, why don't you request a roped-off area price. See if you are prepared to pay for it. What would you expect to pay for it? An additional £5,000? £10,000?

Have I acidentally found myself in the Madonna Fan Club forum? Good Lord.

Let's try and stay on topic - the thread title is the key, not how many records x has sold and how they are the best thing since sliced bread.

Last year I travelled PE from MAN-MCO. I found myself sitting next to a gentleman who was recently accursed of lying in court during the inquest of a certain Princess. I didn't know who he was at first but soon got to know. He seemed OK to me.

What got me was the treatment he got on board over me, both AU passengers. I wasn't asked for a photograph with the crew... I wasn't invited to move to UC (there was space)...

So what made the difference? Me an upstanding ember of the public who pays my own way VS someone who has gained fame through his job?

Still not sure...
