This is the main V-Flyer Forum for general discussion of everything related to flying with Virgin-branded travel companies.

I shall add my voice to the list as well. VS has done everything possible to try and ensure the pax, who booked the MRU flights up to the cancellation of all services that don't fit the seasonal pattern, still get to their destination either via JNB or on BA direct.

cellnet, while you may have a point that the rumours didn't do VS any favours, especially when at first denied, you didn't do yourself any favours by spitting your dummy with the 'I was persuaded to change my carrier and they do this' argument. It gives off a whiff of DYKWIA syndrome, something that airlines and airline employees have to deal with daily.

As for PPrune, well... I've been fairly critical on there and hey, I'm still there. I wonder why...

VAFFPAX, your comment has a stench of wtf about it. I think the fact that PPrune are happy to stomach your 'fairly critical' attitude might be that your comments are so cryptic they don't know what your point is or maybe its because you run away from the bullies like Stansdead et al. Do you wonder why airline staff have to deal with the DYKWIA syndrome so often. It's obvious - it's because very few staff know that the people who complain about noisy bitching queens clattering around the galley whilst they are trying to sleep or stereotypical Essex girls taking 30 minutes to bring a drink because they have had to get 5 others already in the last hour are CUSTOMERS.

Clearly you have deep respect for the cabin crew.

I mean, I understand why you are angry, someone in your position has a right to be. But you really seem to be in the wrong business. You don't seem to like airlines, and you don't seem to like the people who run the aircraft while on board! Whether you get it or not, when you buy an airline ticket, buy a train ticket, buy a car, anything like that you are accepting that there is a risk that the company you buy it from could go bankrupt or cancel production of whatever you just bought the next day (there's a lot of fine print in buying airline tickets, which I think someone in your business should probably have read through already). I can only come to the conclusion that you chose to ignore such buyer agreements.

I'd rather see Virgin Atlantic stay in business rather than waste money on a route that has planes flying with only four people on board. Perhaps Virgin should allude to this a bit more when they break the news to passengers, but it's still true. Virgin is not the only airline that has done this by far, and they certainly won't be the last.

Several of the comments in this thread have tiptoed awfully close to the ad hominem line. The moderators remind all posters that whilst they are welcome to disagree with their fellow posters they ought to do so politely.

Failure to comply will result in accounts being locked.

Posters will also find that there is little support on V-Flyer for sweeping derogatory comments about crew members. It is accepted that all airlines, including VS, have some crew members whose level of service is found to be wanting, however the vast majority of crew are not as described.

This is borne out by the many trip reports on this site.

Please heed this warning as no further ones will be given.

Cellnet, honey, you come sit by me. We'll have all kinds of fun. [}:)]

But I'm afraid I shall first have to whack you over the head with a Air Mauritius amenity kit for being mean to my mate Nottingham Nick. [V]

Now then, how do you take your tea?

Thanks for the offer GJ - a dash of milk, 2 sugars and a double dose of Rohypnol please. [:0]

Cellnet, as crew I am offended by your comments. Queens and Essex girls...? An apology would be nice!

Sorry Southernbelle - there was no intention to infer that ALL crew belong to either demographic. However these 'monsters' do exist and they do behave like that. It is certainly my experience that they are in the minority and there are less of them wearing the Virgin uniform than most other western airlines (there are NONE on eastern airlines).

I found VAFFPAX's DYKWIA comment very distasteful. Do you think this 'syndrome' is prevalent in most other service industries. I think not. So maybe the problem comes from officious crew who have over inflated opinions of themselves and who actually enjoy conflict. I am sure Naomi Campbell is a very difficult customer but I am equally certain that I could keep her happy and not antagonise her if she walked in to my business as a paying customer.

Ladies and gentlemen, just to remind you again, this thread is for discussing VS pulling the Mauritius route, not to discuss the behavior of crew and pax, which has been discussed at length many times before and if I remember correctly from the last thread, in the end we figured out that they are human beings, prone to have off days, at times talk in a manner that they should not and at other times behave in a way that truly make you proud to be a member of the human race, I am talking about both crew and pax, to make general statements about such a large group of people is, shall we say naive.
