I'm booked on this route for March and my seatmap is showing non-UCS. In fact, Expertflyer is showing J2000 for the whole of February.

http://www.lhr-lgw.co.uk website not showing what aircraft flew yesterday at the moment, as from 1st Feb it is scheduled to be 343 until end of season. From that information we'd know whether a UCS aircraft had done the route.

As I understood it though - someone else will know better - weren't the more powerful engine'd 343's fitted with the UCS instead of the others?

As far as I could see (whilst turning right[:(]) the suite was on the 747-400 used on the route in January..

All the 747s and 346s have suites. It's when it's the 343 that the likelihood of suites is in doubt

Updated information for February 1st - 13th

1 V-SUN
2 V-AEL
3 V-SUN
4 V-EIL
5 V-SUN
6 V-AEL
7 V-SUN
8 V-AEL
9 V-SUN
10 V-AEL
11 V-SUN
12 V-AEL
13 V-SEA

V-SUN - 343 J2000 Arcadia
V-AEL - 343 J2000 Arcadia
V-EIL - 346 Suite V:Port

There's an obvious pattern there.... V-AEL & V-SUN taking turns to do the route, so looks very likely to remain non-suite at present.

I'm actually quite looking forward to flying J2000 again for some reason. Just making sure I've got a seat in the middle pair so I can get out to the aisle without jumping over people!

Thanks,

David.

Sandra,

For LHR-JNB, the last 3 months have been 100% A340-600 with Suite. Source : http://www.v-flyer.com/chance.asp and select 'VS601' from the drop-down list.

I've checked Expertflyer for tomorrow night and it's also showing as an A340-600.

Neither of these facts are absolute guarantee's of course but I think it's a very very good bet you'll get the suite! :)

I take it you're coming back from Cape Town then? In which case as per my previous post it's looking like J2000.

Hope you enjoy the trip too, look forward to the trip report.

Thanks,

David.

The only 343 without UCS are G-VSUN,SEA,AEL FLY which makes 4 with UCS and 4 with J2000

Its 50/50 chance at the moment

It seems like there's less than 50% chance, the current movements show V-SUN and V-AEL almost exclusively operating this route at present, with suite aircraft having operated this route only 3 times out of 19 for this month.

Information for February 1st - 19th

1 V-SUN
2 V-AEL
3 V-SUN
4 V-EIL
5 V-SUN
6 V-AEL
7 V-SUN
8 V-AEL
9 V-SUN
10 V-AEL
11 V-SUN
12 V-AEL
13 V-SEA
14th V-ELD
15th V-EIL
16th V-AEL
17th V-SUN
18th V-AEL
19th V-SUN

V-SUN - 343 J2000 Arcadia
V-AEL - 343 J2000 Arcadia
V-EIL - 346 Suite V:Port
V-ELD - 343 Suite Odyssey

Thanks,

David.

Hmmmm, V-SUN went to Dublin on the 27th according to lhr-lgw.co.uk

VS813P To Dublin, Ireland G-VSUN 40 27/02/2006 11:30

Yet there was no plans to refit this aircraft with suite - is it just for general maintenance?

This aircraft has been doing the Cape Town route for much of February, and as I'm flying there later today I'm hoping it improves my suite chances :)

Thanks,

David.
