When will seats be released for New Year's trip?

We phoned Virgin Atlantic yesterday to pre-book seats for our trip to New York over the New Year (which has been booked through Virgin Holidays). They say that Virgin Holidays hasn't released our details yet, so we can't book our seats until they do. We tried to get through to Virgin Holidays but as usual, there's a massive queue and we gave up waiting. We booked the trip a month ago. Any ideas on when VH will release our details?

Thanks in advance

U2fan

p.s. Fantastic site!!!!!!!!!

it depends when the return date is.

If your trip currently returns AFTER the 336 day cutoff, then they will not be able to release it.

Usually it takes about 2 weeks or so after booking/release of seats to come across the system.

But that of course is the average.

Hope that helps

Blimey - that was a quick response. Thanks Juliet!

We fly back on 2 January, so we may be just outside that timescale (my maths isn't great!). I'll try phoning again next week to see what they say.

Thanks again, U2fan

oh, 2nd January should be in system now... so wait about a week and try again.

Good luck with your trip!

Hello Cathy and welcome to V-Flyer :)

I have also made a VH booking to MIA for New Year. Depart 27th Dec and return 1st Jan.

As of yet I'm also unable to view this booking on the VS web site. VH told me it should be there from mid-Feb.

Just give it a few weeks, but keep trying. Although, finding VS bookings using a V Hols ref can be a bit hit and miss as many on here have found out. If there's there nothing in a couple of weeks give VS a call or email and give them your name and flight dates/numbers and ask them for your VS PNR (this is the booking code VS book your flights under).

You can then use your VS PNR to view your flights.

Regards

Thanks for the useful information James (I'm very impressed!). I take it that VS stands for Virgin Atlantic?

Yes, see here for an explanation of some of the more common abbreviations and acronyms that we use on V-Flyer.

Cathy

My flights are now showing up on the VS web site. For the first time ever my Virgin Holidays booking reference was able to find my flights too [8D]

With any luck, yours should also be there now as well :)

Thanks James - we phoned Virgin Atlantic this afternoon and got our seat reservations.

We've been allocated two seats right at the very back of the plane (a 747 - Heathrow) - seats 64A and 64C. Does anyone know if these recline back as much as the other seats on the plane? I'd hate to feel penned in...

U2fan, these seats recline fine. only draw back there are 4-6 toilets at the back where people hang around waiting for... but tha Aseat also has more legroom (space) by the side.

Cant have cake and eat it !!
