Virgin Atlantic's Flying Club

My husband and I are in the Frequent Virgin Club (Virgin Holidays) and always book our Virgin flights as part of a holiday package. Can we also claim points for our Virgin flights through Virgin Atlantic's Flying Club? I didn't think we could, but some of the comments I've read on this Forum suggest otherwise...

If we can, are we allowed to backdate points for trips we've done in the past?

Thanks!

Hi there

Virgin flights booked through Virgin Holidays (or anywhere really) are elligible to earn tier points and miles as long as they are booked in a miles/points earning fare class. See here for further clarification, but basically if you are travelling in PE or UC then its likely they qualify, EC fares, unfortunately, often do not. You can call VH and ask them to check which fare class your tickets are booked in but they do not always know this sort of information as its more of VS's area than VH - persevere though.

As for claiming previous flights, AFAIK, you can claim for flights you took up to 6 months prior, but you obviously need your boarding stub/e-ticket as proof.

In future, when you book your VH get them to add your FC number to your booking, then present your FC card at check-in to be sure of getting the miles for your flights

Thanks,
Sarah

Thanks Sarah - that's very useful. We've just returned from a trip travelling in PE, so I'll try and claim the points for those flights!

No worries.

You should be able to claim for the miles/points directly through the VS website.

Are you already enrolled in FC? If so, when you log in there is a 'claim missing miles' section, try that for your PE flights, otherwise if you send off the boarding stubs/e-ticket and a covering letter they should work their way into your account.

Thanks,
Sarah

Going on HighFlyers response, given the recently annouced Flyign Club changes, you will indeed earn miles and TPs on all VS flights booked as part of a VH.

Economy Flights with VH are normally booked in V class, though some of the megadeals are now booked in N class. N Class trips to USA and Caribbean earn 50% of mileage flown and 2TP round trip from 1st March (before they earned nothing), all other routes except SYD earn 100% mileage and 4TP round trip for N Class (SYD earns 8TP roundtrip and 100% mielage).

Hope this helps, and welcome!
Richard
