The aircraft of choice for VS to MIA at present time is A343. Sometimes this is upgraded to A346. Since moving from LGW to LHR I have not often seen the MIA trip as a 744.

If you check the history you will see that it has not registered once as a 744

You haven't said when you are flying, Tosh.

We are going out to MIA on 21st Feb and our flight is currently showing a 747.

Similar to you Nick - we are out on March 16th and both the seat map and expertflyer are showing a 744 - It looks like there is going to be a mix of 744 and 340's thru the holiday getaway period!!

I guess the only time you really know what your on is when you are walking down the air bridge!!!

I thought I would check out my flight for Sept which when I booked was a 343 is now showing a 346. Fingers crossed it stays that way, but it's probably a little too far out for me to get my hopes up.

I also STBC, as there are a lot on here with much better knowledge of the VS fleet than me, haven't some of the 343s just had suites fitted?

Surely only the non-suite 343s will be leaving the fleet?

4 A343's have had suites installed, with a 5th due later this month (G-VSEA I think). These 5 planes are due to stay in the VS fleet, and have the odyssey IFE.

This leaves 3 x non suite A343's (with Arcadia IFE), all of which are due to leave the fleet by the end of 2006 (G-VBUS and G-VSKY having already left).

I didn't realise -VSKY had left - when did this happen? Sorry, I seem to be a bit behind the times.[:I]

Doh!! Fancy forgettting the 343's with UCS fitted - I think then that the only prob in these 343's is going to be the slightly ancient PE seating - or is/has this been changed too when the UCS refit was carried out?

She joined BWIA in January 2004. There's a picture of her in her new uniform here!

You'd hope that the A343's wouldn't be forgotten, would be nice to see some consistency across the VS fleet, especially as some flights can change between A343/A346 depending on demand. But who knows!?..

Tony, you need to check your seatmap on the Vs website (Manage Your Flights) to see the seatmap and what aircraft will be operating.

IÕm afraid that we donÕt actually have access to details of the actual plane that will be on a specific route, or a specific day. Aside from security concerns, please remember that the plane assigned to a particular flight is not guaranteed and can change right up to departure due to operational reasons. Usually you can work out the type of plane by comparing the Virgin Atlantic seat map associated with your booking and the seat maps on V-Flyer. Also, the route history page will give you an idea of the type of plane recently flying that route.

Thanks,
Sarah

As tinkerbelle says the flight is currently scheduled for A346 (B744 from 17 - 25 Feb only)

also in commentTo Richard38 G-VBUS and G-VSKY leaving the fleet - G-VBUS is not flying as Virgin Atlantic but being leased to Virgin Nigeria, Operated by VS Flight Deck and Onboard management with the remainder Virgin Nigeria cabin crew. it still has Arcadia entertainment and J2000 seats
