Miles for Charities

Just having a random thought during a busy day in work, waiting for some software to install.

Does Flying Club let you donate miles to charities? I know some FF Programmes do, just don't recall seeing anything on the FC website. Of course the thought of parting with miles will send a shiver down many people's spine, but its a good way of helping out charities. They can save a fortune in flights with rewards.

Should this VS should consider doing in conjuction with Virgin Unite maybe?

I donated £50 the other day using the JustGiving service... used my VA Credit Card just to get the miles... everyones a winner! Little by little...

I believe you can doneate miles to "Make a Wish foundation" and I think there is a minimum of 3000 miles... check with FC though to be sure

Really - fab, thanks for that. I would have thought this would have been something they'd make more of - great PR etc.

All those thousands of airmiles that go wasted each year. Mind you, I am going on a flight later in the year and three of the group won't want to collect miles, so will make sure they sign up and donate them to Make a Wish.

The Make a Wish foundation is one of the ways you can donate your miles to make someones dreams come true. It also helps those less frequent travellers who do not either spend or earn miles in a three year period (and would otherwise have ALL their miles expire). if you are one of those people (not likely on this site, I know....) [ii]then ring FC and ask to donate 3000 miles and the remainder of your miles will then be valid a further 3 years.
