We're planning a big trip in 2007 to Australia & New Zealand, returning via Raratonga in Cook Islands. Plan is to fly VS via Hong Kong to Sydney then ANZ to Auckland. On the way home we plan to spend a few nights in the Cook Islands and then return in one go to LHR via LAX.

On the VS flights we plan to use miles to upgrade from PE to UC, no questions there! Does anyone know how the ANZ side of things works, ie. using miles to upgrade to their new version of UCS? I've tried various searches here on VFlyer and also checked out the V-Book which gives details on VS miles needed for outright flights on ANZ (pg 52) but not for upgrading?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, indeed if anyone has a recommendation on most economical way to fly business class LHR-HKG-SYD-RAR-LAX-LHR I'd be most grateful :)

oooohhhh Am I gonna get in before Highflyer :D:D:D

****** GREAT ESCAPADE FARE *******

£3500 + tax Business Class.

Mucho cheaper than buying individual qualifing flights and upgrading using miles [8D]

Do a search on Great Escapade and you'll get a great TR from a certain young lady with taste for designer handbags [:p] and there's also one there from me. I did an identical trip in Nov last year.

GE is great, we have did it before, the best thing is you can change your dates free, we had no problem with availability either, if the flight we wanted wasn't immediately available we were waitlisted and confirmed within 2 days, i found it very very flexible.
