Hello all

2 quick questions:

i) I am sure that representations are made to VS on the back of feedback from the V-Flyer forums. Does anyone know whether there is any possibility of VS introducing flexible reward tickets such as offered by Air France (used to be called opti-miles) or Continental (Easypass) amongst others? I am referring to the situation where you will get a reward ticket as long as there is a seat available, but you usually have to pay double the normal mileage if there isn't any 'normal' reward inventory available.

ii) Partially linked to the above, I want to go to Perth, WA in the middle of December on mileage but do not want to go in and out of Sydney with VS. Will my VS mileage allow me to buy the flexible mileage tickets on Singapore or will I be limited to the standard reward inventory? I want to go business of first.

Thanks

In answer to ii)

Reward inventory on SQ is O for First and I for Raffles. There is no 'flexible' reward tickets on SQ AFAIK.

Minel,
Welcome to the V-Flyer forum. Glad to have you aboard. To my knowledge VS does not offer this type of reward. I have no information on whether they would consider introducing it, either, though most matters of this type change based on what the competition is doing.

Loyalty does mean something to Virgin, however. Its Flying Club benefits (changes coming March 1) offer enhanced services as one progresses up the tiers of membership. As a frequent VS customer (Flying Club Gold or Silver) you may have some luck encouraging VS to unlock additional reward seat inventory as your flight date approaches.

Perhaps one of our learned reward ticket experts can shed some more light on your request.

It's certainly been my experience that FC Gold members are treated well in releasing additional reward inventory. For example, whenever I book companion tickets I can usually get a suitable reward seat opened up, and calling 7 days in advance when there are sears available has always managed to give me the opportunity to upgrade S-class PE fares to Upper Class with miles.

As Nitrox says, it's O and I for award inventory in SQ First and Raffles, and it's also worth pointing out that there is usually only ever a single First class reward seat available on an SQ plane. You can check reward availability on SQ by signing up with KrisFlyer online and then attempting to book your dates as rewards.
