Hi everyone.

Can you convert a voucher to Flying Club Miles, if so any idea how many you get?

Hmmm, I always thought that the choice of 50k miles/Select Voucher had to be made at the time of whatever incident caused the voucher to be issued. However, after doing a bit of searching, this thread appears to suggest differently...

Certainly worth asking (pleading with) Flying club. Worst they can say is no

IIRC, If you have been given a Select voucher, the voucher itself valid for either an Economy flight or miles. If you want the miles you send it back to Flying Club with your FC number and they will credit your account accordingly.

It's usually 50k miles for a standard Select voucher

Hey Stumpy - looking good! Can you let us know how you get on, but on the face of it, with a select voucher and your 66k miles you are there!

It depends which Select voucher it is - can you tell me what it was issued for (if you were issued it for Voluntary Denied Boarding, VDB - what was the delay to your intended Virgin destiantion) and what colour it is (should be red or green).

Is there any liklihood this transfer rate will be modified now that the redemption rates have shifted?

Currently 50k miles gets you a Y single leg flight anywhere on the VS network but after 1st March 50k will not get you to HKG, Shanghai or Tokyo as they will have increased to 60k.

Buffy - Absolutely true, As it was mentioned to me by Phil (thanks for pointing that out btw), I need to get this credited and flights booked by the end of this month otherwise I'll need 20,000 extra miles to take us both to Vegas.. I would Actually have enough for us both to go PE right now, but they have no availability for miles, its the time of the year which causes it, they have very little air miles in Econ for LA or SF during August at all and a big zero in the rest.

And... Man are they busy on the phones at Flying Club, took me 45 minutes to get through this morning.

The reason I ask, is that there are two types of Select voucher now, the original Red one, and a new style green one. If the delay to your VS destination via VDB was less than 4 hours you now get a Green voucher which is worth:

- £250 Voucher than can be used against a published Virgin Atlantic fare or £250 towards the cost of a Virgin Holidays holiday Ð must be booked direct with Virgin Hoidays and not via an agent
Or
- 30,000 flying club miles

If the delay to your VS destination via VDB was morethan 4 hours you now get a Redvoucher which is worth:

- Free return economy flight to anywhere on the Virgin Atlantic network (must be a VS operated flight), including taxes you will have nothing to pay. The exception is the Sydney route, you cannot use a Red Select voucher for a free return flight on the Sydney route unless the Red Select voucher was issued for VDB on the Sydney route.
or
- 50,000 flying club miles

So basically if you are likely to get a Y ticket - don't convert it to miles.

Can I ask - You get this voucher for delays, what is the VDB related to? I was delayed by a couple of hours recently in Miami and nothing was said or offered?

The Select Voucher is if the flight is overbooked and Virgin ask if you would 'delay your trip' and go on a later flight. a 'DELAYED' flight is something different, where they give letters to each passenger with (according to the delay) certain amounts of discounts off the next 'published' fare you purchase direct from Virgin.

Another point to bear in mind regarding Select Vouchers is their validity period. 18 months is the norm and I believe that is 18 months to book the flight (which might then be 11 months later). Or, if no suitable flight is available within the 18 months, then simply send in the voucher and get 50,000 miles credited to your Flying Club account - giving you another 3 years to spend the miles.
