Greetings,

Three of us (including our 9-year old)are flying JFK-LHR in July on VS010. I think I'd like to change our seats to three adjoining on the "k" side of the a340, but get the message "the seats must be together" when I try online. Do I have to make the change via telephone, or am I just doing something wrong? Thanks for the tips,

Steve [?]

Steve, you may have to call to make the change.

Because you have a child travelling, the computer will not allow you to book seats with an aisle in between (is that what you are trying to do?) - it assumes you are splitting the party which you cannot due when a child is travelling.

Hope that helps Jilly

Sorry for the confusion. We are currently booked in two adjoining seats and one across/facing seat. I'm trying to change to three seats in a row/next to one anotherfacing the "wall" and it won't let me. I don't see an aisle between them so am confused.

Steve,

By the wall do you mean a bulkhead seat? if so you cant pre-select these and they can only be allocated at check in - which row do you want to select?

Ah! Sorry! Forgot one important detail - we're in UC! So, given a UCS configuration, where the starboard (I think) row of suites faces the back of the seats across the aisle ("the wall"), does the question make sense? Thanks!

Which flight/Aircraft/Seats are you on and want to book - in ur original post you said youo had 2 adjoining seats but UC doesn't have any? With a bit more info it might help get your query answered

Steve is your flight definitely showing a suite fitted aircraft? Is it possible its a 343 non-suite? in which case there would be an aisle.

If it is showing suites then I would just call to change as I can't think of any other explanation.

Thanks all for responding. I apologize for the poor wording of the question! What I think I meant to say was this:

We're on an A340, suite-configured (according to the seat map). We were booked in 2A/2D/3A. I wanted to change to 3 back-to-back suites on the K-side (3K/4K/5K). System wouldn't permit it. So I took your advice and called my friendly Virgin-agent and changed them that way!

Thanks again for your patience. I think it's the fact that the seats are on an angle that throws me off. Are they in fact next to one another, adjacent to one another, behind one another, or what???

Hi Steve,

just to clarify, on the UCS on the A430, the A and D seats face eachother, and its common practice when a 3 person family is travelling (two parents and one child) they put the Parents on the A (window) side and the child on the D seat facing, so the parents can keep an eye on their child. However, as long as your child is old enough to be left 'unsupervised' most of the time (ie, not drawing all over the seats with pens.... [:0] then the three windows together will be fine. By the way, your backs will be to the window, well more of an angle, really, but you can turn and look over your shoulder out the windows.

Hope that helps,

Juliet

Thanks, Juliet! I think our 9 year old will be fine. We'll pack restraints just in case (just kidding!!!)[ii]
