Ive just booked my trip to Sydney ( Upper class ) for June and have decided to go straight through Hong Kong without having a stop over night. I was just wondering for those that have done this route before how long the turnaround time is in Hong Kong and what the clubhouse is like for getting something to eat quickly and freshening up? ( Im presuming the clubhouse is airside?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, which is why ive decided to ask the experts!!!:D

Hi,

I'm not a 'Guru'[:I] but have been to the HK Clubhouse.

I don't know about turnaround times, but the CH is about a 2 min walk from the gate. In fact you can go to the edge of the CH which is on the 1st floor and you can look down at the gate and everyone queuing up.

It's quite small, so I guess it could get quite busy, but wasn't bad at all when we where there. The food looked fabby and I think gets very good reviews. Unfortunately, we'd stuffed our faces with afternoon tea at the Pen, so couldn't face any more food. Drinks service was good and the bar area is nice.

I was there last week, and the stop over was 1.5 hours, almost to the minute.

The clubhouse is airside.

On leaving the aircraft you will get a sticker, and will be directed through a separate security section (which is clearly sign posted for VS pax) the clubhouse is near the VS gate 36, however to get to the clubhouse you have to use the escalators round the corner at gate 60.

I can't comment on food, as I had just had breakfast an hour previously on the LHR-HKG leg, I just wanted fluids rather than food, but the menu and food being served to others looked quite good.

There is plenty of room to sit and relax, with about 4 pc's, free WiFi and usual newspapers etc, plus a couple of playstation concoles.

Rich.

We were there last week, its really nice! There is a full trip report coming with plenty of pics when we return. Seems that the CH is also shared with Eva Air I think it was.

We too did the non-stop option on the way out, its hard work! We were in bed by 7:00pm on the first night.

It is indeed shared with Eva Air - which means it is open from mid day so if you're in town and want to spend lots of time there you can!

I took quite a few photos of it when I visited last October:

Thanks,
