Reward availability

Evenin' all.

Myself and OH are travelling from SFO to LHR on 04/04/06. Currently I'm booked in PE on a K ticket, she is in E on a Q ticket.

OH would like to upgrade with miles to PE. Obviously she would need to upgrade the fare to L first. VS have quoted £100 to do this which is fine.

Problem is there are no PE reward seats available. Currently EF shows flight availability as

J7 D7 Z7 W7 S7 K6 Y7 B7 L7 M7 Q7 X7 N7

So I'm guessing PE won't be full on the day.

Therefore, my question is - if there are empty seats on the day, will she be able to upgrade with miles (plus the £100 obv) even though there technically aren't any reward seats available?

Often reward seats become available about a week before th flight. So I would say the best thing to do is keep in touch with flying club until then. If seats become available in PE, they won't turn down your £100.

Worse case remember the phrase 'All bets are off at the airport!' - They will know for sure the loads then, and will happilly take the cash to make the required fare change and the points for the upgrade.

If I recall, the one week period before is a Gold related benefit.
