Just to let you all know as im sure you already do that whenever you are on one of VA aircraft you are in safe hands.

in 2003 3,850,758 found the need for some medical assistance on board (equivilent to one weeks worth of customers) or the same amount on the NHS waiting list the same year.

Anyway all crew are trained to a level only surpassed by the emergency services or the military,
passing yearly tests of at least 80% pass on aviation medicine.

In order to keep the aircrft up to date with latest technologies and new CAA legislation etc.. VAA in 2006 will launch the following.

Booked Oxygen - a new type of oxygen to customers whe need it medically and booked in advance, lighter canisters and a nasal cannulae so they can eat and drink at the same time.

Brand new Defibulaters... state of the art and better ease of use for crew in those vital minutes

Tempus2000 - a monitoring device that can take vital signs such as blood pressue and ecg and send to Drs on the ground for advice.

And a much more comprehensive Medikal kit for use by medically trained vollunteers, with updated medicines for todays treatments.

All in all Flying VAA you are in safe hands!!!

Thank you, milehigh, for giving us an insight into the medical training and facilities available to cabin crew. That will no doubt interest and re-assure many VS flyers.

Just one point - can that figure be correct? It seems too high for the number of flyers VS carry in one week.

Assume roughly 70 routes, assume they fly every day of the week, and assume 500 per plane (very generous figure) - that gives 245,000 pax a week.

I did a presentation on this, and Came up with the figure in the following (based on 2003 fleet and routes)

Average of 300 per aircraft, took total aircraft in fleet 744,343,346 and took total capacity divide by aircraft in fleet, based on 80% capacity and allowed for some routes to have 3 a/c at any time.

but You are correct and win the prize for spotting the error.. this is actually the total customers carried in a year. OOPs (just checked my Power point Document)

The reason I posted this is because these are all things being implemented during 2006
