New A346 names

This comes from an unconfirmed source, and is also from a.net, so therefore this could be a case of b/s alert.
Apparently, the names for the next few planes for VS will be...

G-VFIZ "Bubbles" July 2006
G-VYOU "Emmeline Heaney" August 2006
G-VRED "Scarlet Lady" October 2006
G-VWEB "Surfer Girl" December 2006
G-VBUG "Lady Bird" February 2007
G-VJAM "Lady Marmalade" July 2007
G-VLUV "Sweetheart" September 2007
G-VFUN "Party Girl" December 2007

If true, the 'lady bird' name seems a little close to G-VAST 'ladybird'

Once again, this is from a.net (possibly read already by some of you) so it stands to be innacurate.

Kev.

I wanna go on "Party Girl" [8D] That's to say, I want to fly on her ;)

Looking at some of the regs and their respective names, it seems as if VS is getting a bit desperate - however, there's always G-V??? V-flyer;)

Anyway, I think "Bubbles" has already been confirmed but I'm not sure about the others.

Cheers,

The confirmed ones are:

G-VFIT: Dancing Queen
G-VFIZ: Bubbles

Registrations G-VHIP and G-VYOU are confirmed, but as of yet no offical confirmation on the nicknames.

Who actually comes up with these names? Is it the marketing department of Virgin Atlantic?

Some of them are quite good and witty (i.e G-VFIZ - Bubbles). But, where does G-VAST Ladybird come from?

Isn't Ladybird already the name of one of the 747's?

Shouldn't G-VAST be renamed "Big Bird"? :D

I think Lady Bird is more fitting to G-VBUG than G-VAST. I wonder what will happen to VAST when VBUG is born?

Here's a possibility for you.

I believe what we win the UK call a Ladybird our friends in the US call a Ladybug, and the new reg being G-VBUG would fit nicely. Now this could have been something that got 'Lost in Translation'

Perhaps?
