It's been busy when i have flown on it except in December when it normally seems to be quieter

Why yes, it's full of angry people who've missed the 3, the 45 and the 1.

VS009 can get very busy at peak times. This has evened out somewhat now that the A346 is used consistently. It is a little quieter that the VS003/045 and will experience lighter loads than many other services when demand is low.

Regards

There does not seem any logic in guessing how busy a particular flight will be...one day busy, then the next quiet

Bear in mind events that could affect loads such as Marathans, Spring break (USA) , Easter, school Holidays etc... and of course when flight bookings are quiet there is usually some marketing campaign to get people to make it full!!

I fly VS009 a lot as the timing is the most convenient for me (actually, a 16:00 flight would be ideal - but one can't be too picky!) How crowded it is depends on a lot of factors: day of the week, time of year, phase of the moon.. It does seem to be popular with business travellers as it's the last flight of the day.

I've had flights that were half empty where I could stretch out across 4 seats, and flights where every seat was full.

Your wish will soon come true as the VS009 is changing to a 16:00hrs departure time (or in the meantime you could take the VS001 to EWR).

EWR not an option--parents live on LI. (Hence my frequent flying. :) ) Still, good news. It's the 21:00 landing I hate; by the time I'm out of the terminal, etc, the only place to get any food is McDonalds!
