Hi guys,

Just found this great site of yours and joined up - I could have done with finding you years ago!

Anyway, a quick question. The wife and I are scheduled to fly VS017/018 in October LHR/EWR. Online, the seating plan looks like a A340-300 (Suite). As UCS virgins, could anyone recommend the best combination of seats? (i.e. across the isle from each other or one in front of the other).

Thanks very much,

Neil

Neil,
Glad to have you aboard and thank you very much for your paid membership as well. We are grateful for the contribution to our operating costs and hope you find your membership valuable.

Now, as to the best seats in UCS on the A340: Our nifty seat ratings feature can help you out. Also, have a look at the Search feature at the top of the Forums menu; this will help you locate other threads where our members have discussed this question.

My personal fave in UCS on the Airbus is 3K. Given the way the seats align on the Airbus and the fact that the seating configuration is 1-1-1 (whereas on the Boeing 744 there are two zones of 1-1 seating, including row 6 which offers a 6A and 6K combination -- and the "partner seats" further back in Row 15 -- that are quite close to one another), to be close to one another you need to select seats one behind the other -- for example, 3K and 4K. The Seat Ratings page also shows you how the seats align.

One of the best features on V-Flyer is our excellent member input; if you wait a bit, you'll quite likely be reading some other responses to your question.

Regards, and thanks again for your membership.

nibbs: This is going to be all What you want. Since two can sit together in one suite, my wife and I opted to be next to each other instead of across facing. Plus we both got a window. Also, no distractions facing you when you want to sleep. We Played cards, had a snack then she got up and we settled in our separate areas. BUT! we made sure our seats were in the section where we didn't Face anyone. The back of the middle row suites is like a wall. We were on the 600 where half way down it flips. If memory serves, it starts Left side faces each other at front then right side I believe row 9 onward. See how the 300 is then decide how you want it, then go for it.

Thanks for that. Just allocated a couple of seats just as you suggest - the idea of facing the back of the suite across the isle sounds great.

Although they're not available on my flight, has anyone tried the double suite where they take out the middle partition?
