Cheers Nick.

I seem to remember the "spend" section included various limo options including tariffs for districts in Tokyo etc, etc...

It only mentions UK, USA and South Africa now.

My first option is asking here, second option calling FC!

John

We used reward tickets to HKG a couple of years back and I don't think limo was an option most of the major hotels have limo stands at the airport just book it on arrival.

Hi John,
I have just returned from HKG on an UC reward ticket. I suspect the answer to your question is yes; but why would you want to? The Airport Express gets you to central HKG very quickly and you can buy a Tourist Octopus ticket for HKG$220 from the kiosk just outside customs. That gives you a one-way Airport Express journey, 3 days unlimited travel on the MTR, HKG$20 credit for other purchases and a $50 refundable deposit.
Even if the Airport Express station in Central/Kowloon/Mong Kok is not next to your hotel you can easily get a taxi for the rest of your journey for about £3!!!
On return to the airport just pick up the A21 bus (air-conditioned and modern) from Nathan Road all the way to the airport in 35 minutes for about £3.
In conclusion, travel to and from the airport is so easy and fast that you should save your miles for another reward flight.

Ian is right - I used the Airport Express in conjunction with the HKG Octopus Tourist Card - and it was great. Very efficient, and the downtown check-in was very useful.

I can only add to the recommendations for the effiient Airport Express. It also has a free shuttle bus between Kowloon or HK Stations and a number of hotels. Full details here

Depending on your length of stay, and intended use of MTR, it may be worthwhle getting 2 x Single Journey Tourist Octopus rather than the return one as you would then get 6 days of MTR travel, 2 one-way journeys on the Airport Express and 40HKD of spending for 440HKD. When you return the cards at the airport service centre you'll get 50HKD back for each card plus whatever is left of the 40HKD spending so you'll end up spending 300-340HKD. Individual one-day MTR passes are 50HKD (no deposit). You can use the Octopus MTR days either before or after the Airport Express trip.

The 20HKD spending on each card can be used in various places such as local shops, the peak tram (sit on the right going up for excellent views) or for MTR journeys after you have used your included days.

There is some rule about MTR journeys in a certain period before your Airport Express journey being free as well (assuming that you are outside of your included days) but I've never worked out what it is!

I've got a feeling that they only return the deposits and unused spending in cash, irrespective of how you purchased the cards to start with.

HTH.

Cheers,
Brian.

Thanks again.

I'm in HK from Sunday 21sttill Thurs 25th when I fly to PVG so the 3 day option sounds good.
