VS Economy: Better than walking!

Or a cattle truck

Or Ryanair

Like the UCS, give the product sufficient to sell itself.

how about on the vport flights AVOD. Something BA doesn't offer or most of the US carriers they pitch against.

See here in lays the problem. You want to promote the sevice, but let's face it,coach on any airline sucks.

So you have to push the IFE and the amenitybags, thats about it [:#]

the food is your standard long haul UK airline food, the seating is well close and personal.

Push the flying club HARD as a way to earn miles to upgrade to W and J oh and also something I dont see VS doing alot of,maybe mention VS's saftey record [?]

the problem with that is it's not on all the flights, yes you can mention it as VS does, but you dont want to push it to the front and then have a pax get on an LGW aircraft and find that in fact they don't have it.

I agree but they've done it a lot before with the J2000 when none of the LGW had them. But, as you said apart from that it's difficult. Perhaps the new seats may help, or go for just the one route like NY to Lon with daytime eastbound flights which isn't that common.

Hmmm. Maybe a bit rude but...
Put a picture of an average VS crew member and BA crew member in uniform with the tag line "Who would you rather spend 8 hours with?" on adverts.

Would be catchy and in VS style. :)

Given that product is part of the marketing mix, I would say that the rumoured re-vamp of Y is totally the correct thing to do.

But to be really radical, hows about dumping PE. Then have a range of different seating options in the expanded Y. Y(normal) which is pretty much as is. Y+ for £100 or so more which gives you 34"pitch. Y++ for £150 which gives you exit rows. For a suplement of £30 you can have an premium meal option. And super Y for roughly PE prices which gets you rougly the PE product but with Y ticket flexibilities. Then the tag can be something like "Virgin Atlantic - have it your way.

Maersk Air use to do that with what they called skinny and fat seats I think!! Paying for just that little bit more leg room bumped up the basic fare by about £30-50 a time

That would fit with true VS style.

VS hardly promotes at all in the states. Occasionally you get a Forbes or a Fortune magazine with one of the fake boarding card promotions in it, but that's pretty much it.

VS has so much on a lot of the US based airlines. To my knowledge Delta only has PTV's on the 777's (and we only have like 7 of those), the rest of the fleet is terrible as far as IFE.

I think points like the Award Winning IFE, Safety record and flying club are excellent marketing points, and I'd like to see VS market a lot more in the US. It also seems to me that VS has a very good on-time record... depending on how correct I am, that could also be an excellent marketing point.

To my knowledge, VS is one of the first airlines to offer frequent flyer credit on lower fare tickets.

They could do a campaign about how innovative they are as a timeline and project into the future. First airline to offer PTV's, first to fly the 346, first to offer NNN hours of video on demand (on select flights), etc.

No matter what it is, it has to be jazzed up to be modern and sexy with typical VS style. Make the product stand out from CO/DL/NW and the other markets here in the US.

We on v-flyer can only promote so much on our own. VS needs to do some marketing too ;)

I agree firstly virgin should put their house in order and offer a consistent flying product throughout the entire fleet.
It is very disheartening when you board an aircraft only to find it looks nothing like what you have seen in adverts, or it is totally different to the last virgin flight you had. V port is great but the seats are horrific and the Ife boxes should be removed from under the seats and placed somewhere where they do-not cause limitation on the movement of lower limbs. Some passengers already suffer from the less than generous legroom provided in econ. CONSISTANCY COMFORT SAFETY and VALUE FOR MONEY should be the name of the game Virgin have a great safety record and for the most part offer good value for money, so there is only two key points left to work on in my eyes. When you hit the magic formula your customers will do the marketing for free.

Cheers

You might guess that I don't really do the marketing thing by my suggestion:

"Virgin Economy - it's not as bad as you think"

I'll get my coat.....:D
