I'm not sure whether to complain about the baggae tag theives, the viscious baggage handling machinery, or the inadequate strength of the strap holding my tag in place.
BUT, on it's first outing I lost my proudly displayed v-flyer silver tag, somewhere between LHR and ICN [:(]

It may be a deliberate plan by Pete, to encourage further sales. [}:)][}:)]
Keep an eye out to see if it appears on EBay, though [:#][n]

I lost my red one going from Dublin to Manchester this weekend - It seems the baggage handlers just throw your baggage around with no care at all

^Lol yeah - that's EXACTLY what they do!!!!
I don't blame them either - it's the quickest way to get things done.

Plastic tags like the VS or V-Flyer ones are not strong enough to withstand too much. The thin bit of plastic at the edge of the card can easily ping if the card gets bent or pulled. The Upper Class tags from recent incarnations of the OB amenity kits are a bit more robust, but on one of mine, the popper has been bent out of shape so it won't close now. Hey, at least I have some spares.
In truth, I would not expect anything that protrudes from a case to survive a good handling from any airport team. That includes wheels, handles, cases, locks, straps and tags. The cases themselves take a bit of a pounding as well - we checked my kids' shiny new carry ons for our recent JetBlue and VS flights (for reasons of weight and convenience) and they cam back covered in black rubber marks (which washed off) and scratches (which didn't).
I can not think of a single type of case that would look good after only one flight. Fabric cases get snagged (even Tumis), plastic cases scratch. Perhaps Aluminium?

you could not tell by Dublin airport - got off the flight that took 35 mins last night - and had to wait 40 mins for my luggage - Jesus its a disgrace - and after all that v- my badge was gone

I rarely ever check in so dont experience damage..
KLM lost my luggage once though!!
Back on topic cant you get those leather protectors for your luggage tags?
But damage isnt so bad after all replacement tags are an excellent way to
support v-flyer! - which reminds me I should order black ones

....or perhaps some ploy by the "dark side"?
