LAS with Air Miles

Have just booked through Air Miles an offer of return economy VA flights plus 4 nights at Luxor Hotel. Cost 2,880 air miles and 543 pnds per person. Out on 21st July (offer lasts from 1 - 21 July) and back on 25th July. Elton John returns to Caesar's Palace on 23rd.

I always wondered what I would be able to use my 16,000 air miles for and this is a great way, BUT, when I rang FC to book seats I was told that the tickets do not qualify for FC miles. That's a surprise, as I thought that only non-revenue tickets would not qualify. Any comments?

Also, I presume I will not be able to use my FC miles to upgrade to PE. Anyone recommend I try this at check-in?

Hi Ian

If your Air Miles flight is booked in a similar way to Air Miles redemption bookings on BA then Air Miles uses a special fare class for booking VS flights in. This fare will not qualify you for any miles or tier points because it is similar to booking a reward flight or miles plus money ticket using your FC miles.

As far as upgrades, I would definately recommend you try as there is zero harm in asking. You will be more lucky if the flight is full but because your fare is quite low in the pecking order you still may find that they wont budge.

As for Elton John...[}:)] Make sure you enjoy it!!! :D

Thanks. Yes, each fare cost 335 pnds + whatever Air Miles give to VA for the 2,880 air miles I redeemed, so it is a low price compared with the current 714 pnds on the VA website.
As for buying an upgrade with FC miles, I am slightly bemused. I would have thought that a full flight would REDUCE my chances, because there will no doubt be some PAX wanting to pay for upgrades, then there will be some Au and Ag members (some of whom might want to pay with FC miles and some who VA might just feel like upgrading), then come Reds like me.
On the other hand, if the flight is less than full, then VA would accept my FC miles quite readily for an upgrade.

Ooops. To clarify- I meant if economy was sold out. As I said your fare is quite low in the pecking order but if no-one else is offering to pay (miles or otherwise) for their upgrade then you may stand a chance. Most people seem to think a free upgrade is their God given right [:p]

Like Darius do you mean Anteo:D:D

Anyone read yesterday that he demanded an upgrade at LHR on a VS LAX flight and was refused[:p]

He then used the line 'do you realise who I am':D:D

Still didn't work for him

I've always thought this was a particularly stupid question, given that the only possible answeres are 'No' or 'Yes, but I don't care'. I wonder which one's worse?

The appropriate response to the line "Do you know who I am" is,

"Well, sir, I'm sure I can help you, shall we have a look in your passport it will probably tell you in there". Then offer to write it on a lable to put round their neck for future reference.

Well that, or a quick "No" and a punch in the face
