I have had differing experiences of this. Usually the trolley will make its way round the PE cabin before the meal service and on longer haul flights I have found an additional drinks service a little before the meal service is offered- generally it is the same as the economy cabin with the exception of on the upper deck of the 744 there is a shelf near the stairs which they keep stocked with cups of OJ and water for you to help yourself to. I have also been on PE flights where prior to the meal service a cabin crew member has come around with a notepad and taken drinks orders, which were then served to you on a tray.

I dont know of any limit that is imposed but as with all airlines, they will refuse to serve you if you are becoming drunk.

And red wine, it is the same served as in economy so it will be alright but I wouldnt be expecting any fine vintages to make their way down the aisle.

The drinks cart will usually come round once on most flights and after that OJ and water will be served, should you require something else just contact the crew, by visting the galley or pressing your call bell.

The first option is better, when walking around just pop via the galley and the crew will be happy to serve you.

As all alcohol is loaded from the UK for the return sector if huge amounts of alcohol is being consumed then the alcoholic bars may be closed.

This happens alot on LA, Vegas and Cape Town.

However PE pax are normally not effected.

The red wine in Y and PE has just changed from a red french merlot to a red Chilean cabernet sauvigon!!

Declan

Is the change from the small personal bottles to a glass filled from a bottle a permanent change?

I can see it will save money, but the small bottles were a nice quantity.

On the contrary- I get sozzled off the hand poured measures. Im a lightweight and much prefered to get a can extra of coke and split one of those little bottles in half!!! [:p]

Big bottles will be staying as they cost alot less than the small bottles and they weigh less so cost less to fly round the world!!!

You can always ask for two glasses of wine or a big plastic glass!!

Birkin & I have never had a problem getting refills of champagne when flying PE, I don't remember ever being on a VA flight where they have run out of my favourite tipples, but then I have never been on a flight with BC, as far as I know! :D (Just kidding BC ;) )

Don't worry, after running out of Sauvignon Blanc to and from ANU, I'm taking my own case next time... I'll be dangling the bottles out of door L1 to chill them, obviously. :)

On boarding (J and W), I'm sure the only choices are:

Mineral water
Orange Juice
Bucks Fizz
Champagne

The rest is availabe when in the air.

Thanks,
Richard
